Hell yea, that was great. For being unarmed you could be such a pain.RedAlertSF wrote:0.75. Al Basrah. Random spawns, civilians on rooftops spotting enemies and awesome firefights. That's something I really miss..
I can't remember the times i made a brit fall to his death bye removing the hook i was climbing. Oh and destructible buildings! Brits have a building? Sneak up, ied and BLOW THE WHOLE BLOCK AWAY
... haven't they nerfed insurgents a whole lot? Spawntimes, Civvies and spawn times, Squad leader grenadier, no War veteran(no patches for normal classes), less spawn spots, less spots for ammo and no more molotovs for limited kits.
And to compensate we get Mines and Nade-traps(a tk feast woo!), a hard to use gun for the Cell leader, an awesome but buggy antitank grenade and a cell phone. And more rocks.

0.75 was epic aside from all-infantry maps that were overrun by wannabe DMR snipers and instaproning SAW whores.

M95 on Basrah, M82 on Kashan
Epic fights for Factory in Basrah, EJOD tanking, massTK on each beginning of Airport on the british side, mp5 MEC specops, Mao Valley, AK101 grenadier...
I kinda like the new versions too

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not "Eureka!" [I found it!] but "That's funny . . . "

Re: Was it really better before?
The map Oasis. Do I need to say more? And yes, fuzz, I know you where the only one who liked it
Or that map with the sand storm, I cant recall its first name but I think it got changed to desert storm or something, First it was MEC vs US which was spamtastic (esp at the center valley flag) and then they changed it to insurgent vs US and it just got more spamtastic and since the insurgents got 10 tickets for every civilian killed by the US and the US got 10 tickets for each civilian knifed, It never ended!
In the early 0.6 open beta bunkers and firebases cost 100 tickets to deploy!
also in the beta, the coalition lost 10 tickets for every civilian killed, the rounds ended before half the team had left the main base.
I remember one round of mestia during that beta which lasted for 5 hours, 95% of the time the fight was at storage bunker
0.4 and 0.5 Ejod was bottlenecked in the center of the city, it was 2 streets wide, very spammy.
in 0.5 you needed explosives such as the SLAM or a HAT or LAT to take out a rally point
the SL could set an RP without needing to have squad members around him, it spawned to his left and had a collision mesh so you could spawn it inside walls making them almost impossible to find.
and the text
"QM: sorry leetsniper36, Im all out of snipers kits (2 out of 2) would you like a lemonade instead"
"QM: sorry leetsniper36, Im all out of marksmen kits (2 out of 2) would you like a lemonade instead"
filled the screen for 5 solid minutes at the start of every round.

Mestia 0.6 was just epic. I mean, I sacrifice new stuff to have that back. The weapon accuracy, the ppsh for clearing the bunkers, the Bizon, the tower flags. The memories...Cp wrote:

And I gets me to why the need for explosives to take out firebases and stuff was removed. I mean people complain about all sorts of stuff needing teamwork and things like that get removed. Having to get other team members to take it out while you secured it was much better imo, and disabling the spawn when an enemy squad is close solves spawnrape issues.
Basrah was epic too, it was fun on both sides.
Give me back basrah 0.6 style even if it crashes the server, it was worth it.

If anything I do miss its the smaller community. Team work was really important and at least when I played you had more of a team mentality. Thats really all I miss

clear PR (no vBF2 n**bs) that miss to me...Farks wrote:List things from the "good 'ol days", in the old versions of PR people are so nostalgic about for some reason.
#1 - The 1337 american spec-ops in 0.4 with the laser M4 and parachute.
#2 - Kashan Desert in 0.6. It was a real nightmare now when you look back at it... Crappy AA, solo tanks, etc.
