This is for the guys, with the connection problem after loading:

Go to your BF2 directory (X/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2)

Now click following Icons.
Image

There should pop up a firewall-window which asks you, if you want to allow the application or not. Click the allowance-button. Do this for all 3.

And Tadaaaa! PR is working again.
Atleast it worked for me.

I also have a strange disconection bug and I have only experienced it with the .85 version of the mod? It always disconnects me after around 30 minutes of play. It does not matter what server I am on either....

I have tried all the fixes in this thread but nothing is working. I run xp and have all the bells and whistles to make this game run fine, which it did for every other version of PR. This sucks because I love playing PR and now I cannot....

Ok i used to get disconnnected frequently but i have fixed that through turning my sound quality down and EAX off. But now i play for an hour or and then get booted, however as it crashes with connection problem i can still hear my squad perfectly in voip for approx 5 seconds before it goes back to main menu.

vista, full proper install, sound quality low, EAX off, set affinity tried, esc trick tried.

I too am having this problem. I really like this game but these issues are really turning me off to it. Ive never had such a hard time trying to play a game, and yes I know its a mod...thats been out for 4 years...

Ive tried just about everything suggested in this thread and others yet it still happens. Sometimes I can play for hours and hours, then other times I cant even play 2 minutes with out getting "connection to the server has been lost".

Anyone know if any of the devs have addressed the issue? I would be nice to know they are at least trying to figure it out. Seems like to many people are having this problem for it to just be ignored.

I just downloaded Project Reality today, and i went to join a training server, and it loaded...

Except as soon as i went to choose my kit and spawn point, i noticed my mouse was frozen. It wasn't the entire game, since i could view the score board and i saw the timer moving down etc.

So while i thought my mouse had died, i got kicked from the server by punkbuster for 0 minutes, and gave me this:

(A1392 C2.181)

The same thing happened with other servers i went to join, so i came here and downloaded that punkbuster update tool and updated BF2, when it was updating i saw it said that number the kick message got me so i thought i'd fixed the problem so i went to join a server again, except my mouse was still frozen.

So, any ideas as to what's causing this?

Thanks.

First of all, YELLING (CAPS) doesn't help to fasten up things, secondly, multiple qutation marks are a sure sign of......

- Many things can't be fixed from the PR DEV Team because it's not a PR issue...
- Out of all the thousands of PR players only a "handful" do have connection problems
- Many times, the problem is in front of the PC
- There are so many things that can be causing connection problems: Resolution, patches, multicore PCs, Punkbuster, misconfiguration of PC, etc. and then it is also an operating system matter...
- So don't blame the PR Dev's for your problem, there are plenty of possibilities aside from PR that could be causing your problem!

Uh yeah i am blaming the DEV team for this problem....this doesnt happen in BF2....or any other game. Just this...i tired every possible solution that has been mentioned....and no result....and my pc isnt the problem or me....so dont pull that BS with me buddy....

MSI- 750i
Intel Core Duo e8400
XFX 9800GTX+ Black Edition
2 gigs or Corsair Ram.

20,000 reviews sure sounds like a handful to me....

For me, I had many connectin problems in Vanilla as well as in PR. For me the Dualcore Optimizer fixed that thing. Then I had connection problems again in Vanilla and PR and I deleted my profile, created a new one... fine.
I understand that you are upset, but you only see your problem (which is ok), but the DEVs have hundreds of problems, complaints, bugs to look over. I think you can understand that as well.
And so, like in every business, you have to priorise things. And a connection problem of "some" users are not that priority as other things.
20,000 reviews you say, ok, BUT from that 20,000 reviews are many guys like me without problems who are only willing to help or to read the new posts. One guy is telling about a problem, 5 guys trying to help.... so its 6 reviews, but only one guy with a prob. ;) *Got the point*? :p

Ok, that wont help solve your problem, but there is a saying here in germany: "The sound makes the music" and i guess with your CAPS and angry writing there are not that much guys willing to help you anymore...

Btw. I don't mean it offensive in any way, I am willing to help and this is just my point of view.
I also don't know anyone from the DEV team, but I am in IT business too, so I know about the work.

Good luck anyway to you and I hope you will get your issue fixed!

My pc started having weird connection problems after PR 0.86 before, al the way back to 0.5 everything has worked fine.. But after one day of playing pr I started getting these connection problems in online servers only.. all it says is lost connection to the server. When I rejoin I get the same thing over and over again.. I used the patch but instaled pr .85 only 1 week before (had to reinstall because i f***ed up a file with battledirector.. )

What I dont understand is why i didn't had this the first day i played...

incredible frustrating I've basically tried everything. I've had comcast techs come over and it's not a problem with my connection. I am wired connection btw. PR.85 WORKED FINE, then I eventually started getting these damn problems with the new patch.

update pb both manually and automatically
did the pbns delete trick
reinstall pb and bf2 and pr
new video drivers
added bf2 firewall rule/opened ports thru router
turned firewalls off
set audio to low EAX off
audio rendered hardware/software
compatibility mode
setting affinity to one
optimized/unoptimized internet
did that other trick where you turn off a certain service
deleted bf2 cache from documents
tried all sorts of different intervals for PB_sleep

I can't try the dualcore optimizer trick because im on intel

Maybe its EA/Dice trying to sabbotage PR coz they know its waaaay better than Vanilla? <joking>

you better hope that the problem fixes itself on its own like some people experienced. But you're most likely for a long and frustrating ride brother. Look at my post above, I mentioned quite a few "fixes" that some people had success with. Those are all the supposed tricks I learnt from dealing with the problem for over a month now. I can say that the above things I did certainly make the problems less frequent but I still get them.

best of luck
