Major Lag in battle
I am getting a lot of lag down to about 1fp/s during a major firefight. it takes a me running around for a while for it to calm down, my ping is always at 0 and yes I updated punkbuster already.Seems to happen only near an objective and lots of visual stuff going on, I have an nvidia 8800gts oc this is happening with everything at low settings. video is 800x whatever and everything either off or on low and view distance at 100, audio is all off except for being low quality. PR works fine just this sp mod is acting up.
anything will be great to know so lets hear it. thanks in advance

I have the same problem. I don't know much about gaming systems (or computers), but my son suggests it's my video card - a Radeon ATI 200 - a valueless antique, from what I understand...........

@ 99mildmod: i think a 8800gts should be good enough.. how much ram have you got?
@ SgtDad: i don't know too much about hardware either, but after a quick google search for Radeon ATI 200 i think that's the bottleneck there.
you guys should post your system specs, so hopefully one of the 'hardware-checkers' can hop in here.

I am running 3 gigs of OCZ gaming ram. my processor is an AMD Athalon 4400 X2 dual core. Just changed the # of bots down to 15 and it made no difference in either the bot # or the lag. All non vital process are ended thru task manager. My connection is cable, road runner extreme.

Re: Major Lag in battle
Running SP does take more out of your CPU, because of bots.
BF2 and PR only really use 1 core so 2.2 is a little on the weak side.
But, shouldn't be that dramatic.
Have you tried Multiplayer yet to see if you get the same results?
Might want to look around or ask in the Support section for PR.
Let them know what your specs are and they might be able to get you up and running a little smoother.

Need your motherboard name and which 8800gts version do you have?99mildmod wrote:I am running 3 gigs of OCZ gaming ram. my processor is an AMD Athalon 4400 X2 dual core. Run an empty multy player map -locally (create game) and report the fps +
exact motherboard and the VGA models please.
Best thing to do would be filling out your "system specs" under the user profile, that way
you only do it once.

Your ping is 0 because you're not connecting to anything - playing locally.
Your FPS should not be that low. Some misconfiguration most likely.
edit*
Some maps (like Fal.west +Ramiel) do have very low FPS - try Ejod desert for testing.

Re: Major Lag in battle
I will enter all the info, however I beleive I have solved this or at least listened and tried what was posted somewhere on here. I went into aidefaultai and added rem to the 2nd set of coding, changed the bot # in game to 26 and there is no more lag at all during firefights. just unsure of what that does other than allow me to adjust the bot#s I have not been kicked or banned by punk buster running on a coop map,Ejod is what i have been using just by chance. will try to play tonight with some friends locally, ill post the outcome.

Re: Major Lag in battle
Hi,
I'm not complaining about lag because I realize that my system is antiquated, but here are my specs:
Off-the-Shelf HP Pavilion a1130n w/3500+ AMD Athlon 64 processor 2.2ghz, 3gb* PC3200DDR SDRAM (*upgraded from 1gb), 250gb 7200rpm SATA hardrive, Albacore GL6E (MS-7093) motherboard, and, of course, my ATI 200 video card.
ops:
It's 5yrs old and runs like a charm. Game play for me is okay with 14 on each side, but when a group of "us" get close enough to become frag-fodder (5 or more), the screen begins to stutter a bit. BF2 is my ONLY form of computer entertainment, and I like PR enough that I'm thinking of getting another computer - maybe one that's only one or two years old!!!!
I'll be searching Overstock just as soon as I can scrape up enough moolah to get a "decent" machine.

Re: Major Lag in battle
Try reducing the amount of bots you have ingame and try reducing the video settings too
HangMan: BF2 Editor, it has very strict limitations memory wise, and crashes all the time. Its like a girl. Treat it with respect and take it slow and you'll get places. Rush and get ahead of yourself and it will turn around and punch you in the mouth

My lag in one game was bad when my ping was under 100. I guess it was the server.

Re: Major Lag in battle
I have a similar issue with PRSP. I get lag spike at Kashan Desert's airfield.
I've notice that it gets laggy when I'm around lots of moving vehicles. Once the bots clear the airfield the lag settles. When I engage in a firefight it comes back.
I use to have this issue with BF1942 long long time ago and realized it was because I was running a pirated Win. XP
Anyhelp would be great.
Specs:
Off shelf Dell Optiplex GX280 Midtower Intel P4 2.8ghz, Gskill 2gb, 40gb ide hd, 8800gts 512mb, corsair 400w psu.
PS: works great with all setting on high in MP.
