[AAR] Fallujah Sniping
Had a great match on Fallujah West today. Heres the story.
After starting PR i felt like sniping.
I joined the server just as Kashan Desert ended and we continued onto Fallujah west, i was Marines. i get the sniper rifle. i had an idea about using the rooftop of the big building inside the US base.
I went to the roof and starten looking around... I think i maneged to shoot 2 or 3 running around the open spaces infront of the base when i spotted alot of enemies on the roof of the mosque which i could clearly see from the rooftop.
I must have spent at least 15 minutes shooting from that roof killing about 10 enemies on the mosque roof as they spawned or started shooting my direktion (not hitting at all)
a few times i even maneged to hit them just as they were about to go down the stairs from the roof. also i killed about 3 in the streets i could see from that roof... when quite some time had passed the insurgents began defending their caches further away from the base as the Marines took one after another out.
after being out of targets for a few minutes i decided to relocate to the rooftop further down the main road...on my way their i changed my mind and went to the Mosque where the squad i was member off was just regrouping. near the gate to the mosque's compound a red bomb car suddenly appeared speeding down the road...fearing that it had spotted me i stood up and started sprinting away, i maneged to avoid his first attempt at running me over and hid behind a pole when he came back for me. then as he reversed and came under fire from my fellow marines i sprinted to the gate and got to "safety" inside the mosque compound... heard the car explode shortly after.
I met my squad at the mosque as they were engaging targets outside the wall.
I Went into the tower and started putting rounds on the enemy.
just like the other roof it was a turkey shoot and for a long time nobody spotted me.
my squad moved out and i was able to give em warnings on enemyies aswell as fire support from that tower. I was also able to locate the enemy spawn point quite some way down the road north-northeast.
shortly after i was warned by a squad member that i had company...I sat for a bit with my handgun out watching the ladder but when nobody came i got my rifle out again and started looking for enemies again. shortly after i heard someone on the ladder. fast as ever before i got my gun out just as he came up.... shortly after i threw the body over the egde and reloaded my gun.
I continued to give my squad fire support as they advanced on the spawn point and effetivly took it out.
then i turned my attention eastwards down the main road where insurgents were moving around. a few times i recieved some rounds up my tower but none of them hit and after taking cover i was able to get out and continue firing. must have killed about 5 more in that area. Towards the end of the match i took a 5.56 round from another marine but suvived it and was able to patch myself up.
the match ended shortly after...32 kills to no deaths, and second most points of all.
had a nice feelin afterwards...the Marines won the match 17-0
Anyone had similar experience?
snipers arent useless after all, especially not on insurgent maps... the 32 kills must have got quite a bit of Intel. i killed a few enemies that could have killed some marine if i hadnt got them first and also located that spawn point.
but apart from that it was also great fun which is what gaming is about...Right?
great training also, im alot more confident with the sniper rifle now.

Re: Fallujah Sniping
What I can say, you got lucky, you were using standard sniper positions on Fallujah and obviously on not so experienced server, why?
Well 1st of all on servers like UKWF,10th,RT,TB etc. you'd be killed by a marksman or assaulting squad, that disturbs US main base, also you were lonewolfing that's not the best idea too, so you did well, like I said, you've got lucky.
What I've achieved on one of the games, I think at the start, that sniping from main isn't the best idea, so I found a spotter, btw thanks A LOT to him, and went outside the main, settled up on a roof to control 2 entrances and clear them from assaulter's. Also took down few suicide car drivers that were attending to drive into main and do their bloody job. Approximately in the middle of the round I changed position and in a while did a 3rd change and quite effective one, we were exactly opposite side of the road where the cache were located, so last 10-15 kills I did in a row, killing strongly those who tried to harm friendly assaulting forces or me(obviously some1 should spot me after 10 kills in a row).
That round was very effective and sometimes I wish that I could film it, may be some day I will.
That's my story...
EDITED: Just saw from the scores, we were at the same server, I mean not the same game, but it's SG, so my excuse is that ignoring server, not so high game play level, I were more secured than you
Rex.

I really dont see why you try to reduce my archievement.
lone wolfing...isnt that the way snipers usually operate?
didnt need a spotter when i was inside my base and no roof for one in the tower anyway.
well done getting 34 kills also.

Re: Fallujah Sniping
fallujah west is an INCREDIBLY easy place to snipe from the H shaped building if there are caches near enough.
Cant do this if the caches are located all in the south and far west side of the map. So its all luck related.
Either way, good job on the score, it at least shows u know how to use it well enough.
Rexik has a point about lone wolfing though. On fallujah west u dont need a spotter, but on a map like Operation Archer, i scored 30 kills in 30 minutes due to the fact i had a spotter with a saw gun next to me, that covered my butt when we started getting hunted down by the taliban.
That map is the kind where that amount of kills is a huge deal, because you must get out from the cover of your base, and you can be attacked from any position the taliban can think of.
The communication and target acquisition between you and your spotter is key, and in the end, all that hard work yields a very nice score, and makes you feel awesome about urself.

Re: Fallujah Sniping
My experence wasnt Fallujah West, but Road to Kyongan'Ni. Someone requested a sniper kit at the FB(it was a few build back, i think i still had a ghillie suit), but never picked it up. Rather then let it go to waste, I grabbed it and hid in the woods near my sqaud. When the squad started takeing fire from across the river, the SL started marking their positions for me while the rest of the squad returned fire. I took out each one by one, and I dont thingk the ever knew where the shots came from. My score wasnt near as impressive as yours, but 6 and 0 is still something to be proud of.

Re: Fallujah Sniping
Was on Muttrah and was able to kill 25 people with 0 death as a mec sniper.
Went behind the enemy lines on the hills and nobody saw able to see me as i started sniping whole squads.
Was fun until some idiot squad decided to camp next to me with the HK MG and start spamming around giving away my location.

You helped your team with intel like you said, and the story is nice but it isnt one people will remember, because theres likeley to be a lot of people who did it your way.

Re: Fallujah Sniping
Yesterday on the UKWF server.
Me and another guy make a sniper nub squad (wasnt really serious at the time)
I requested the marksman kit and he got the sniper.
So we crossed the street, seeing insurgents placing ieds and such, i told my sniper ''take out key targets like people holding IED's or detonators or RPG's we didnt really care about the random insurgent.
So we settup near the ditches with the railing thing that goes over the whole main road, and we manage to take a few planters and RPG gunners out, we took a few shots (4 or so) and then we moved up to the 2nd story building next to the construction building accros the US base, we didnt get on the roof but abit further in the windows to reduce chances of spotting, my sniper guys would engage spotters and RPG's again while i would cover the rear and shoot people planting stuff at the US main, (got me 3 kills)
Finnaly we decided to move trough the suburban area west of the map all the way to the large hospital building or what is it, in the south with multiple floors and wheel chairs allover the place.
So we move trough that little ghosttown in the west and their was no gunfire or anything we could hear, just me and my sniper guy when suddenly a civilian came crossing the road from left to right while he didnt see us. offcourse we dived to the ground in the hope he didnt spot us and luckily he didnt.
We then moved carefully towards the fields and crossed them, my sniper told me he saw some movement on those big towers near the red cross building, i took a look with my scope. and yes their we had some guys on the towers with RPG's and PKM's we decided not to engage and report them and then move on towards the hospital building.
Few seconds later he disconnected grabbed his sniper kit for my marksman and i was on my own
few minutes later i walked inside the building and just sit there in the windows (wich is better than the roof)reporting enemy contact.
My reporting was quite effective, as soon i reported something the infantry would most of the time actualy respond and explore the area and work together with us, we i was also in contact with a commander that directed troops on possible cache location with the reports of Me.
Few seconds later i saw their was a friendly sniper sitting on a building really exposed and i told him to join my squad and move over to me, it took him some minutes to cross 50 meters of street without getting spotted, while i covered his back.
It really was a different game than the average snipeing game where you just pop people, and make alot of kills there was really some kind of atmosphere where you could feel the intensity, my sniper was the first one to notice it, he said: man when you have these kind of rounds that makes you love PR.
anyways we sat their reporting troop movement when we spotted troops over the street in the southern part of the road, comming towards us. im not sure if theyve spotted us but they where comming closer and closer.
We took those 2 out, while we directed more troops onto this area since there was increased activity most likely saying *cache here, cache here!* and it only took a minute or troops where allready searching the area
the area started swarming with insurgents and US troops.
I decided to stick with fellow UKWF members and cover them and report contact for them with ventrillo.
They gave us ammo when we needed, and we gave them precision fire when they needed it.
Few moments later we had insurgents near the apartment blocks (not the brown ones, but those you have on muttrah)
After some time observing it, we could clearly see where they where spawning, the cache was laying on a balcony with insurgents spawning there continuesly, a UKWF madmakem suppresed them while we where taking aim on the windows ready to pop the guys that grabbed the RPG and PKM kits from the cache, a apc came rolling in and 2 insurgents popped up in the same window takeing aim on the LAV25 we shot them, and 1 RPG gunner managed to still fire his RPG but landed right infront of the APC doing nothing to it.
Moments later the building with the possible cache was surrouned by troops with people searching the floors, but for some reason they couldnt find it, i from a distance overlooking the site told a fellow UKWF squad that was outside to throw a few incindiaries right above them in the right balcony.
Few moment later the cache went boom and a few other friendlies got wounded by the blast
We followed UKWF sinbadECHO his squad and shot people that where threatening them.
Eventualy we followed them all the way to mosque and setted up on a 2 floor building within the mosque walls covering the east
A guy came running in and i popped up and shot him in the chest, while he fell to the ground
another one came running in on the first floor and my SM shot him with the pistol we held a little last stand, while i tried to get sinbad's squad up to us to help us he replied; were bussy.
So we had to do it on our own. killed 2 guys while a molotov flew makeing me and my SM wounded, we rushed to the first floor and seeing a insurgent was about to enter the car garage, i shot him he shot me and we both dropped to the floor wounded a scandinavion squad ran outside clearing the area, i could see the finnish medic walkin on my body with his rifle still out moveing slowly towards the door, and shooting a few times on my wounded screen.
I got healed just 20 seconds later but my kit was gone, i decided to move back to base with my sniper transported by apc, and suddenly had the APC bug with massive lag so i had to disconnect
Im not sure my score was but last time i checked it was around 14 - 0 and my SM had 19 - 0

No mate, i just wanted to have some fun.
normally i always have to follow orders from everyone and such and play serious now i just wanted some sniper nub fun and grab a marksman (its really good, even in close quarters IMO)
Normally if i spot i would get a specialist kit, but for now i just wanted to mess around while it actualy became a brilliant round xD
Also, i find it stupid how spotters are portrayed in PR, theyre just roleplaying theyre are laying next to a sniper and saying if he hits and other uses are only a grappling hook, and most of the time defending a position isnt even needed. xD
buuuuuttttt if we had some proper spotting equipment

I always try to get a good spotter when i want to snipe, thats why i always play with Hibernative when i want to snipe. WE find a good place to camp, he looks for targets, puts the markers for distance and he tells me if i hit or not. and vice versa.arjan wrote: lol
