[AAR] What a peaceful beach!

Post by Duckmeister »

So I was on the Virginia Mixed server today (Sept. 24). The map was some China v US map, the one where the US starts on a carrier and China has this huge beach, I cannot remember the name of it specifically.

I was on the chinese team, and we started out real good. We got at least a squad in all the important bunkers, with me starting at the north rock and taking a sniper kit. We are totally ready for an attack, but one never comes. Finally, 5 minutes into the game a lone US helicopter comes in to the main beach, drops off 5 guys (although I don't know how he did it, he was taking so much fire it was unbelievable) who quickly throw 3 smokes grenades, one at their feet, two ahead of them. Very professional, I must say.

Pretty much the entire chinese team was pouring fire into the smoke, with my squad killing the majority of the enemy squad. I think 3 made it past the beach into the lightly-forested area ahead, set up a rally, which was soon taken out by a patrolling squad who ended the advance.

All was peaceful again.

And it was still peaceful.

15 minutes had passed since the first attack, and the US still hadn't shown themselves.

I realize that a newbie pilot must've flipped their other helicopter, and relay this information to my team. My squad and the opposing team start cracking jokes about how nice and quiet each of our respective areas is.

"Oh this carrier is real nice, what a nice breeze, we're having a blast"
"This beach is so much better than a noisy carrier, I mean it's a beach, and plus we don't have any noobs tipping over our helicopters either"

This carries on for about 5 more minutes (with no attack), at which point me and just about half the server left the game.

This is why 10 minute vehicle respawns don't work on attack-by-sea maps.

That should've been hilarious... BUT......... HOW did the guy FLIP 3 CHOPPERS?? DID THEY REALLY ONLY HAVE 3 bad pilots? He shouldve been kicked in the beginning!

haha.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Wrong. That is why noob pilots and lazy admins don't work.

If the 3 choppers were flipped simultaneously then there would be nothing an admin could do.

The helicopters were already blown up. And it obviously wasn't just one guy. So no admin could do anything fix the problem.

Is that even humanly possible in pub servers (i mean, not a very very synchronized fail clan) ?

It probably went like this:

3 out of 4 pilots get into their respective helicopters. One (maybe two) is new. While the 2 others are waiting to takeoff, the fourth pilot heads to his helicopter. At the same time, the new pilot immediately hits the throttle, tipping his helicopter over, colliding with another one, which tips over. They both blow up, killing everyone near, including the 4th pilot who was still walking to his helicopter. One helicopter makes it out (as he was on the other side of the explosion), leaving 3/4 of his team behind.

It would be hard to explain the 4th helicopter's demise, as just the pilot would've been killed. Who knows, all I know is that the US had to wait for all of their helicopters to respawn.

Thanks, and I found the name of the map when I went back to the server later.

They had done their full rotation and were in Barracuda again, so I just made a "TRANSPORT" squad, locked it, and grabbed a pilot kit.

I ended up ferrying the entire team in three trips to various points on the map.

Worked really well, had a lot of fun, ending up winning, and the only other pilot was manning the attack helicopter!

Just shows that you don't need all 4 pilots to make it work on that map.
