Is PR Loosing Interest...?

Post by BabylonCome »

I would just like to know everyone's thought on the current state of affairs with PR....

With it being over 8 months since the last BIG update with new maps, vehicles, weapons etc and the amount of full or nearly full servers only just managing to get into double figures this past few months (our own RIP server struggles to get full of late and always use to be well populated), is PR dead?

I know all of us loyal PR players at RIP are just down on our knees begging for 0.9 as we know this will bring a little life back into the game and maybe even bring a few people back who have since strayed to other games.

So come on people, let me hear what you think of PR at the moment (pre 0.9)...?

Servers playing BattleField 2 | Server / Player Search | Game-Monitor.com :: Server Search, Monitoring, Stats and more

no, 9 servers with 30+ and its not even peak time. and .9 will bring even more. I agree it can get boring after playing the same version for along while, hell i just got back from a 2/3 week break (back to playing every night again) as playing same maps is boring , but overall player count is still high. and .9 will bring some players back, and alot of new players no doubt. so no, PR is not dead. the mods got more people playing than both Arma games combined!

imo one of the problems of PR is that every clan wants its own server, puts alot of effort in to seeding it and then gets frustrated.

There are too many servers folks, save your clan money and yourself some time by allying yourself with another clan or community to seed and play together.

plenty of communities offer facilities for in house clans etc, tacticalgamer.com realityteamwork.com gamersdomain.co.uk to name a few

Everyone will be on xmas holidays soon anyway at least, which will boost population. However I'm seeing certain PR servers constantly full.

I would recommend RIP run a special event night with teh assistance of the R-COMs if you want a full server atm.

No, PR is not losing interest. I saw around 750 people playing on sunday afternoon. It may be start to lose interest though.

I dont think so. its some times a pain in the *** to get into a server like the other day I waited 20 mins (went to eat lunch and i left "auto deploy" on) when I came back in it was still trying to get in. the one thing i HATE about some servers is they cap it to 62 (some go as far as 60) players. Its almost never used, they should make it 64 and if an admin wants to get in just kick someone for it, better than keeping 2 possible players out. (it also makes it a pain cuz Auto deploy dosent relize that one of the slots is reserved so you gotta wait for 2 ppl to leave)

62 players is 1 commander + five 6 man squads per team. The one extra person is not going to make or break the space availability, plus admins like doing things other than kicking people to make room (the automation requires at least one spot and the other is there to keep teams even).

There's always a partially full server to help fill, no reason to be bitter about the full ones even if they have two reserved slots.

The server I play on is always full. When a new version comes out many new players join. Some like what they see, but most are baffled they cant drive the apc with their sniper kit.

I seem to oftentimes get 60 people on the server I play to have good rounds with, 60% are regulars, sometimes close to 100% on the server are regulars and we have great games, so I do not really care about how many servers are full, as long as enough new people join the mod to become good teamplayers.

Look at vanilla hundreds of full servers, but horrible horrible gameplay.

What Rudd said and the fact that the v0.8xx cycle is the longest, 0.7 was 8 months and 0.6 was about half a year long, people are starting to get bored of playing and seeing the same stuff over and over, although in 0.8 case, there was 0.85, 0.86, 0.87 and the recent beta which kept it interesting throughout 2009.

Any game ? The success counterstrike had is still unparalleled. Admittably there was not much competition at the time.

Have you ever tried to type e.g. "62" into that empty text box in auto deploy screen? ;)
