[Video] PR0.86 TOW Humvee on Qwai

Post by DenvH »

PR 0.86 TOW Humvee on Qwai. (1080HD)

- 35 minutes of TOW Humvee action on Qwai River.
- Only died once in the movie, due to a failing mistake of my driver.
- No music or chat, I may add music later on if you guys think it makes it better.
- The chat wasn't recorded by fraps, but I will try to add it in future video's.

I hope you guys like it, it may still look low quality atm. It takes a while for YouTube to process all the data I guess.

Driver:[PR]NATO|Deadsmile187
On the TOW:[PR]NATO|Dennis
SL/HAT:[PR]NATO|Wellink

PART 1:

PART 2:

PART 3:

PART 4:

For anyone interested, it's all recorded with fraps,
the intro is made in AE CS4, and all of the editing is also done in After Effects.

Just wondering why you did ALL the editing in AE?

Because I'm more familiar with After Effects than with the other programs and I could pretty much trough in the raw footage without cutting it, just added the text and intro/outro.

You could make everything but the intro in Premiere or something similar. But I went with AE on this one because I only have to render stuff once and again, I'm more familiar with AE.

If you got a lot of cutting to do, like say you make a Promotional video for PR. Then you should use AE for effects you want to add and Premiere to cut it and insert the music.

I smell VideoCopilot related intro :D

Think it would have been more interesting with radio chatter, or music set to it. But then again with music it always makes me want to sync things with it. None the less, good video to show how to use the TOW ;)

Yea I tried out their new plugin (sure target 2)...
Works nice, but I didn't add anything special in it, just an easy and fast to make intro.

How come your game play footage is so smooth? Fraps seems to always mess my computer up, and PR/BF2 is a super easy game for my system to run at 1920x1200 and everything max, I am always at the cap of 100fps, but when I record it drops to sometimes below 15?
System specs: Intel i7 860 2.8ghz
Asus p7p55 motherboard
Ocz 4gb kit x2 ddr3 100mhz ram
LG dvd drive
1tb sata hard drive
Ati Radeon 5850
Antec 900
Ocz 700 watt power supply
Windows 7 home premium 64bit

i really liked the videos. They weren't just the frag ones you see all the time, we actually saw how you played.

LG dvd drive
1tb sata hard drive
Ati Radeon 5850
Antec 900
Ocz 700 watt power supply
Windows 7 home premium 64bit
My specs are similar;
  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
  • Memory: 12278MB RAM DD3-1333 CL7 7-7-20 (Ocz)
    (basically 2 tri-kits of 6GB each)
  • Hard Drive: 1024 GB
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 (1.7GB)
  • Monitor: SyncMaster 2494HM (1920x1080px)
  • Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bits
  • Motherboard: ASUS P6T
  • Computer Case: ANTEC 1200
  • Power supply: SilverStone 1000NW (1000 watt).
And I can record a steady 50fps, maybe even higher (never tried), but 50 is enough to play normal.
Without recording it's a steady 100+fps.
I can also record MW2 in 50fps steady, if I go higher it drops back to below 50. So maybe you got to find the best balance for your system.

I'm not sure what the problem is, I can tell you that on YouTube, the recommended frame rate = 25fps. So make sure your rendered video is at 25fps for the best results.

I don't know if it's hardware related, but the only thing I see is the Memory..
Which isn't that expensive if you compare it to the CPU. I think I bought my RAM for $200,- in September. So the prices have probably dropped a bit now the new sticks are out (8GB per stick of RAM)..

But if I where you, I would first try different fps settings in fraps, you only need 25fps, but I feel like it lags at 25fps so I record it on 50fps, which is a better frame rate to play at I think.

Yeah, I restarted my computer and the set the frame rate to 25 and it recorded fine. But as you said recording at that low makes the game look laggy. I'm going to go start up PR and try 50 fps, will let you know how that goes. Also, I don't think it could be the ram, I mean I'm not going to rule it out but 8gb of ram is quite a lot. The only reason I wouldn't get more ram at this point is because all of my ram slots are full so I would have to buy a whole new set of high gb of ram, or buy a new mobo with more ram slots which is a quite a lot of work.
