PR .09 + Mumble = WIN
Can I just say excellent work on .9, I've been playing since 2007 and this release has really got me fired up again....
The new maps early on look amazing, and loving Israel V Hamas
The best bit for me though is Mumble - AMAZING
been playing on the RT server where mumble is required.... what a difference, brings a whole new lease of life to the game!!! Really adds to the immersion and teamwork!
Anyway thanks again for a great release and the official PR mumble server!

I'm still downloading. Do you have to start Mumble separately from PR or is it built-in like Punkbuster?

Indeed, ive possibly just played one of the greatest rounds ive ever been a part of, on Slient Eagle with Ludwag as SL, Munchy managed to take down a Russian tank with our TOW, and the chinook trans was just simply epic.

This link should tell you everything you need to know about Mumble, it will most likely say during Startup, however as I already have mumble installed i didnt see that screen

Mumble is awesome but I can't seem to find solid populated Euro servers where people actually use it.

Thanks naykon, I'm glad you're enjoying it. The thing is Mumble is pretty chaotic today due to lots of new users - once the new players learn how to really use it (*cough* SL channels) then you will really learn to love mumble! I think that the RT server will continue to have the password for at least the next few days - the server password is displayed in the mumble window when you join our channel. See you there guys!

didn't install mumble. from experience, you only half-casually use it 2% of the round.

I love rounds where VOIP is only used as a radio and everyone is on Mumble. Along with the large convoys and groups of people moving together, Mumble makes it a completely different game.

You obviously haven't tried it on a proper server then. Get mumble and join Reality Teamwork.hiberNative wrote:didn't install mumble. from experience, you only half-casually use it 2% of the round.

TG and RT with mumble are THE best games ive ever played in the 2 years of playing PR. takes 1 min to install and even if i have one other SL in SL chan to work with its worth the 1 min to install (tho chances are you have half of the team). As for squad members, yes you only use it a small amount of the time, but that 2% of the time when you shout :hiberNative wrote:didn't install mumble. from experience, you only half-casually use it 2% of the round.
"APC! enemy west!"
Is worth the 1 min it takes to install.

i've played on servers that require mumble, but you're often outside of earshot so it gets annoying to try to hear what somebody's saying when he's far away. the 3d locational voice feature thing doesn't warrant a separate program imo. i've used mumble quite a bit, and teamwork is just as functional with regular voip (again, imo).

i wont play in a server without mumble, waste of time. no teamwork, no organization, not being able to yell at the squad next to you for a medic, or ammo, report contacts, sl channel talking to CAS, talking to other SL ect. no wasting your time typing.
i dont understand how anyone could be against. it.

Its mainly for squadleaders to merge their squads to talk to armor ask wounded people if they need a revive etc. .hiberNative wrote:i've played on servers that require mumble, but you're often outside of earshot so it gets annoying to try to hear what somebody's saying when he's far away. the 3d locational voice feature thing doesn't warrant a separate program imo. i've used mumble quite a bit, and teamwork is just as functional with regular voip (again, imo).
If you are on the right server it gets used plenty.

This is what takes place with a mumble server:
Squad leaders communicate more efficiently and more often
Transportation is infinitely easier to get a hold of
Squads cooperate locally, from squad leaders to squad members
Medics are more efficient
Supplies are more accessible
Awesome factor increased by OVER 9000
Come over to RT or TG once in a while hiber, join the dark si...fluffy white unicorn land.

Re: PR .09 + Mumble = WIN
I LOVE Mumble and positional audio is IMHO the future of gaming VOIP!
One of the coolest side effects of using Mumble in PR is that squads tend to stick closer together, at least when on foot.
My most wanted improvements, for "reality" sake:
I'd actually like to see Mumble stabilized and integrated into PR to the point where regular BF2 VOIP can be disabled entirely.
I'd suggest the optional use of a "whisper" and/or "shout" key to augment the distance someone can hear what you say.
Make it so even communication on the SL channel is audible to other people VERY close by... after all you are still using your voice when you use the radio and unless some sort of earpiece was used someone close enough might also hear replies over the radio.
Perhaps automatic channels for aircraft and armor so the two types can communicate with each other. Maybe give them access to the SL and/or command channel so a pilot (of either aircraft or armor) can be requested to provide support more easily and without said pilot having to be a SL?
Fix the overlay problems with punkbuster.
