[AAR] Best v0.9 experience so far

Post by cfschris »

My best: RT Mumble server

Me and my squad are Northeast of Bravo Objective as Canadians, trying to flank enemies in the area (we saw a Cow go down there, found it later empty).

So, we find the enemies, and ambush them. One of us is taken down, and we're securing the area. We head back to our old FOB site to rebuild.

I then hear a rumbling engine in the distance. I shout to my squad over mumble, "Grab cover! Grab cover NOW!!"

I'm yelling over and over again, the rest of the squad dives for the brush while 2 of them are out in the open at our crates bickering over who gets the AT kit. BAM BAM BAM! Two enemy APCs roll in from seemingly out of nowhere, and disgorge two full infantry squads. Two of my remaining men open up on the squads- they are quickly dispatched by the APC. It is now just me and our medic, hiding in the same tree brush.

Everyone is dead, and I've ordered them to hold spawns. We see enemy crawling all over our positions, APCs roving around. We have to get out, I tell my medic. We'll wait for them to leave.......

No dice. Two infantry are moving DIRECTLY towards our hiding spot, searching for down squadmates to revive. We hear them calling out over mumble "Are you hear? Medic! Haha, we DESTROYED those guys! Ooh look a SAW kit!!"....they are completely unaware we are still here.

The two infantry are moving closer.

"Full Auto. Steady......steady......LIGHT EM UP!"
We open up point blank, instantly killing the two infantry. They're screaming out over mumble: "AH WHATS GOING ON!! COVER COVER!". Me and my medic spring up and begin running immediately to the Northwest. I'm running as fast as I can, screaming "WE'VE BEEN COMPROMISED GO GO GO!! NEED EVAC NOW, SQUAD 7, TWO APCS AND INFANTRY IN HOT PURSUIT! REQUEST IMMEDIATE EVAC OUR POSITION!!", all the while APCs are rolling around trying to locate us.

My medic dives for cover, and I keep running. I suddenly see why, one APC swinging into a firing position on me. I slide onto my belly from a full run behind a tree just as he opens up on me - I'm hit, but the cover saved me. The APC still opening up, I realize theres no way out.

I tell my medic to surrender. We drop our kits, and acquire the unarmed kit. I tell him to walk out of the brush with his hands up. I yell on mumble "WE SURRENDER WE SURRENDER! WE'RE COMING OUT, DONT SHOOT!!"

The enemy APCs hold fire and allow us to walk up to them, and respond on mumble. They demand to know where our LAVs are, and only then will they tend to my wounds. I give them a fake coordinate- they say THANK YOU! And then floor it full speed right at me! I scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! As my medic is executed by the infantry.

So damn epic.

My best so far on Silent Eagle:
Besides for having awesome armor support in my squad BVR'ing my markers with sextastic accuracy (nearly hitting the TOW humvee, but it moved), was taking out a tank... without anti tank.

Myself and EvilPotPie were coming down a hill, when we spotted a tank ahead. They were facing the opposite direction. It was beautiful. They didn't notice our 100m dash to get up right behind him, nor did they notice when Evil, who had a mere AR kit (Russian), pulled out a incendiary and tossed it under them. A fully healthy tank, with two unaware crewman, fell to our devious plot. Twas' epic.

On Lashkar Valley on Talibasurgency, I grabbed a HAT and moved to the building across from the (two bridges, ones goes north one goes west, and theres like a waterfall, and its right next to the river on the west side idk exactly where) to set an ambush. My spot where I was set up was not IN the building, but on the other SIDE of it. When I fired the RPG, it had to go through my window and the window on the other side of the building. My SL spotted and APC and Scimmitar driving down the road toward where i was set. I hit the APC and he immediately screwed himself over by turning right into a wall. Blah blah blah, the streets were littered with enemy APCs.

Standing around near the cluster of houses east of Central Village Obj. on Silent Eagle with a few squad members and blue guys, chatting over mumble, scouting for hostiles, providing cover for troops moving to the objective, planning some stuff with a nearby SL, and watching the fireworks(Artillery) rain down on the objective. Just one of those awesome moments(That only happen if you have mumble hiber!!! :D ).

Also on Silent Eagle, another match, fighting up in the hills NW of Central Village while trying to locate some enemy armor that was firing on our guys inside the village. I caught a glimpse of a TOW emplacement on the plains just north of us and decided we should move in and take it out. We got in a fierce firefight just on the slope, fighting enemy reinforcements flooding in from the FOB, and nearly wiped out before another squad(Rangers PL) came up and regained the area we were down in. They and the remnants of my squad moved in, got in another firefight and pushed back the enemy before reviving downed SMs, rearming, and organizing a joint push on the FOB. Mopped up the remaining hostiles, took out the firebase, and cut off their only reinforcement point for Central Village. Afterwards my squad got caught up in a standoff with a sniper somewhere to the north, smoke got flung around everywhere, I got sniped, then revived, I went "Aaaaaaaah, Fall back!" and everybody else went like "Aaaaaaaaah!", and then we went to hide in the woods. :D
Make Norway OPFOR! NAO!

Silent Eagle, our squad spawning in B3 and spending literally 20 minutes working out how to get out (ended up firing RPGs and doors until one blew up :) )

Best moment for me was my first full playthrough of Yamalia on T&T, squad gets dropped on Foxtrot and starts asking for supplies to get AA and AT set up...Five minutes later we're still waiting. Suddenly we hear the sound of rotor blades heading towards us and see soth Chinnoks flying towards the objective. SL tells us all to hide in the trees and bushes, so we oblige. Chinnoks land not twenty metres from our position.
So we opened up, sending the pilots into a panic and causing them to abandon the dropsite with two guys on the ground. They are quickly dealt with and we all watch as one of the chinnoks starts listing towards the treeline before a very satisfying explosion. 8-)

Best moment=failed American Squad
It started toward the end of the round I, with support of a grenadier, attacked E4kp9 compound on Ramiel, it was easy, took 2 guys in total out of there. Note even a minute later a Stryker shows up, I threw the RKG grenade I had but missed, so I retreated into the safety of the building. Next thing I knew I heard a Logi Truck and a Humvee full of troops coming in the gates, I go up to the 2nd floor porch and opened fire with my little AKS-74U and retreated to the back of the building behind the crates. The American squad came in and I shot and moved to another crate and shot and moved to another crate, killing most of their squad, it got to a point where I was out of ammo (clip was empty) and I saw an American with his restrainers out, so I pulled my knife out waiting to make my final stand, only to have the other American TK the guy and then mysteriously die himself...
