Hamas nameless kit

Post by dklollol »

When Hamas kits are dropped on the ground they spawn as bags with no kit logo, and shouldent they be weapons just like IDF?

I believe I read somewhere in the change log that they're working on the skins/images to turn all the bags into weapons when you drop/request kits. The .9 release came around too fast and that update will have to wait until it's finished.

0.9 Changelog:
Removed identifyable kit bag for conventional factions as it's just too much work to maintain and resource hungry, will eventually replace all kit bags with weapon models

If they found a way to use weapons for kits from same file as in 3rdperson, the game has less models to load in to memory as it doesn't need to load separate model and texture for the kits.

The system we used previously basically involved cloning the kit geometries and reskinning just the kit bags and then reassigning the appropriate kit bag to the geometry that contained the marked kit bag. Now, that worked fine in previous versions since we only had like 15ish kits per faction. Now, with the addition of even more factions, the slow replacement of the old drop bags and now alternative kits, the amount of work and cloning needed would be astronomical. Think about it -

15 original kits + 8-ish new kits (alternates included) = ~4 cloned kit geometry meshes
Multiply that by the number of factions in PR, and that`s a lot of space and resources used for all those kit geometry copies.
Explaination there
