M16A1 full auto > 3 round burst
IMHO full auto with the M16A1 is way more controllable and accurate than the 3 round burst (M4 / M16A4). Time and time again I have missed with 3 round burst in CQB. The M16A1 on the other hand is the "firehose of death" - you can spray 30 rounds with one pull off the trigger AND hit a man sized target constantly.

I <3 teh auto M16's and M4's (I won't bother naming those beasts properly).
I wish US Military would issue full-auto weapons to soldiers so WE COULD HAS THEM IN PR <3.
AUTO FTW!!!

Only reason we have the 3 round burst over the fully automatic is because our boys in Vietnam couldn't train their trigger finger. But that issue is dealt with and in some situations full auto does prove to be more effective.

I agree with the OP here, I find it easier to control a whole mag of full auto than 2-3 bursts of 3 rounds. It works as a slight balance issue since the OPFOR usually has full-auto rifles, even the MEC.

Agreed with OP. In game full auto fire of M16A1 & M4 seems to be much easier to control than a few bursts of 3. The thing is in cqb you often just spray. And if it doesn't work- you spray more. On the other hand burst fire is highly effective at suppressing enemy at medium range.

I have a right to a open opinion. You're in game name isn't ViktorAce is it?ViktorMk wrote:Drunken, your an idiot if you believe that.
I don't know what you're objecting to what I have said, but why did the M16A2 have the Single/Burst selector group? To conserve ammunition.
But yeah, It looks like the 3 round burst selection is less controllable than the Full automatic. But I think its the user that allows the burst to rise, unlike when firing in full auto, you feel obligated to resist the kick, and vertical rise.

I would agree that for some reason of which I'm not sure, the recoil of the 3 round burst seems less than using full auto, though I'm not sure why this is as it could be something player side, how our brains regard burst compared to full auto or something

Why does it feel like the M16 and M4 auto's are so much better then the Burst M4/M16? Sure, bursts visually look better..
Also, IIRC, isn't the M16 have a 400m effective range, while the M4 has a 300m but full auto?
Why don't we make the M4 Single/Burst/Auto instead of forcing 3 =\

Actually, it's because humans suck at rapidly compensating for the sudden decrease and then increase in recoil. End result is that it's a lot harder to compensate for burst fire. Auto has a more consistent recoil.Drunkenup wrote:I have a right to a open opinion. You're in game name isn't ViktorAce is it?

Can we have the muzzle rise in 3 round burst be more predictable?

I see.Colonelcool125 wrote:Because only the M4A1 has a full auto fire mode. The M4A1 is issued to special forces. The M4, issued to regular forces, does not have a full auto fire mode.
So why not make the M4 have less deviation, since it is shorter and lighter then the M16, so would be easier to move around, but lower accuracy at longer ranges?

The good thing is they are accurate enough but too accurate compared to the y-axis deviation. They do have kick but the only deviation is y-axis when you aim which means when an enemy dude sidesteps you are screwed.

Re: M16A1 full auto > 3 round burst
They actually do issue full auto M16's just depends on who you are, I asked someone about that a few years ago. SF sometimes gets full auto M16's as far as I know, not really sure who else.sakils2 wrote:I <3 teh auto M16's and M4's (I won't bother naming those beasts properly).

And the longer barrel is what actually gives you accuracy to the guy up there who i'm too lazy to quote

Re: M16A1 full auto > 3 round burst
I'm guessing we have the 16" Barrels on our M4 Carbines, and the 20"s on the M16A4's, so that would make sense, the light and shorter M4 be deployed faster, but the shorter barrel and lower round velocity would make it less accurate. All rifles have the same deviation atm, but I'd like to see that change. But if the change was made to our M4s and M16's, the difference would be pretty minimal and almost unnoticeable.Dev1200 wrote:I see.

Re: M16A1 full auto > 3 round burst
Quick question... in AA3, the US soldiers are issued single/burst M16A4 or single/auto M4A1s... I read somewhere that it is true that the burst firing is to conserve ammo, but did they do the M4A1s in the game to be more tacticool?
