Re: Project Reality: Vietnam Update
The Marines prior to even the Korean war had developed radio controlled/dropped munitions that could be dropped from 20,000 feet onto unseen targets within 50 yards accuracy. This stuff wasn't completely unavailablema21212 wrote:Dude back then it was super complicated, I mean try flying a F4 at 700 mph, then try to bomb targets in three layer canopy. Its impossible and what they did back then was that they flew little scout planes (propeller driven), and they would fly slowly around the target, when they saw something that might need a bombing then it would shoot out flares and the F4 would try to bomb the area around the flares.
The AN-MPQ-14 and the AN-TPQ-10
Though agreed that something different from the current generation lazing would be great.
read in First to Fight: An Inside View of the U.S. Marine Corps, googlebooks has it, and the entire "The Marine's Push Button" chapter is about its development

Re: Project Reality: Vietnam Update
What I started wondering isn't this joke a bit too old to stay unlocked. So finally I decided to peek here...'[R-DEV wrote:Jaymz;1313023']That's right, the announcement of Project Reality: Vietnam on April 1 is real, and is currently being worked on by the Project Reality Team. The team successfully fooled the PR community into thinking it was a joke. We got some priceless reactions from community members that fell for it
Damn you, you double agents!

I Gotta say that I thought there was way too much effort put into this for an April Fools Joke.

Re: Project Reality: Vietnam Update
Hahaha all PR did was put a news post about something serious... you all did all the work in your little brains all by yourselves!
We simply planted a seed and waited for a few of you to snowball this into a big april fools joke you all thought you solved

Re: Project Reality: Vietnam Update
DEVs, don´t you fear that the PR-Fanbase is being split up by so many projects at one time?
I mean PR, PR: Arma, PR2, PR:V, that´s a bit much for a community like this.
There is the risk that every game of these is played a bit, but in none of them are really many players.
You know what i mean? I saw this happening in some other mods/games, which was their downfall...
I hope this wont happen to PR!

Re: Project Reality: Vietnam Update
I think it'll help the community if it's together with PRBF2, ARMA is a very different game with a different player base.
I love the idea of Vietnam maps in rotation, yes give people the choice to DL or not by having servers which run Vietnam maps announce it in the server description.
There will always be the element that go on Mumble servers without Mumble, join VOIP squad with no VOIP and try to play Vietnam maps without Vietnam map pack....

Re: Project Reality: Vietnam Update
I'm not that surprised myself, I didn't think you would even try such a bad joke.
Are there any decent Vietnam games nowadays? I don't think there are, so this is nice. Though I'd like to get WW2-PR more than Vietnam-PR. I'm also again worried about that this is going to split the community.
Will it be a separate mod or some sort of "expansion pack"?

Clever clever. Good to see this though.
Taking bets on what is next. PR1942 or PR2142?

Yea dude, Torrents ftw! I don't know anyone who downloads large files like this off a browser anymore, dude as long as they keep putting out torrents with the releases they could make it 30+ gigs and I wouldn't care hahaTannhauser wrote:Somehow I had the same idea trotting my mind...
Agreed.
Though file size will grow heavy quick, but that has not stopped PR from progressing, has it?
