Maybe YOU should look into that.......
I actually struggle to believe that, although ArmA 2 PR is essentially creating an entirely new game and therefore requires more in the way of gameplay testing, I struggle to work out how much gameplay testing you can do with 24/25 people in a game that can take up to 100 players on a server.

Ofc you will be testing how weapons etc handle in-game as PR on ArmA 2 I understand to be changing the formula on that somewhat, but thats not something that needs to be done on BF2. Is that what you mean by gameplay?

Maybe a wider range of different kind of testers wouldn't be such a bad idea if the amount of things that need to be tested are so great? From what I could tell from an earlier post in this thread there are only 16 testers? Why so few? Is it a trust issue? Are the PR team afraid of leaks?
Beta testing is on-going at all times, whilst you play the game on a public server you are essentially beta testing it, so no I can't see any holes there. We get through what is required (bug testing etc) just fine with the number that we have.

Again please read the thread. There are 24 BF2 :P R testers, wider scale gameplay testing has been tried several times with very very limited results and thus has been removed. And yes, leaks happen even with the last major release there was a leak so widescale testing, for those reasons, is unlikely to be considered again (although never out of the question).

We don't get insulted when the public points out bugs or gameplay faults. We, however, do get insulted when the public accuses us of failing to do our duties because we didn't catch a gameplay feature or something.
There are around 24 testers.
Even so, there are few times when we can get all of us on at simultaneous times in order to have a semi-playable play test. If you've ever tried playing a 64 layer map with 4 people, you understand how hard it is to play test.
As mentioned before, there was a previous stress-testing team and were disbanded because most of those on the stress test team failed to show up and play on the server. They felt that they couldn't be hassled with downloading new builds and such and therefore, chose not to actually participate and just get "insider" access into the new builds.

*Edit: Ahh, jiggy got there before me

THIS SUCKS.

200m from edge of map?

how the hell do we play muttrah now? i cant build any fobs near gas station like always.
i cant build fobs near(not close) MOST of the caches on Operation Archer. Cant build fobs in strategic places on fallujah anymore. Cant build fobs in most strategic areas on most maps anymore. :(

Muttrah City is completely screwed for the MEC with this new gameplay. Its potentially removed the epic battles over firebases on most maps also.

Wheres the enemy fobs on muttrah? near the middle. Down the centre stretch.

Personally Opinion peeps. 100M would be sufficient.

Shame.

This change will be adjusted accordingly to facilitate all maps.

We are looking into the possibility of it being a fast, server side patch with no client updates required.

Oh my god oh my god oh my god the testing team fails.

I am so sick of this. Testers get blamed for lag, gameplay issues, anything the community doesn't like. You know what, 20ish people tested 11,000 changed in 0.9. Their own time. Their free time. The time you spend having fun in PR.

I'd like to see you do better, 'cause I'm guessing if you guys were on the testing team, all we would have is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge debates. Real productive there.

You have an honest, proper concern? Then don't get cocky here and PM the lead testers. Useful tips are always appreciated.

Once again, we do not test gameplay. Oh and you compare ArmA2 testing to PR:BF2. PR:BF2 has been here for several years, you can't compare that.

The DEVs are looking into it, what more do you need?

@Bubba, any chance you could do the same thing with Fool's Road (2k map) with the same distances?

Discussion about beta testing in this thread is not welcome anymore.

If anyone including beta testers starts discussion about it in this thread again then you will receive an infraction.

If you have a problem with how PR beta testing is run please PM me.

Actually, I'm going to lock this. We got the point, and we noticed the issues as well.

It will be looked at, so the discussion is over.

Very sad to see some of the stupid accusations going on, from outside and inside the team.
