I've been flying the A-10 alot (I fail with all other jets) and I think I fly good but sometimes when I need to drop a dumb bomb I succeed (pure luck) and sometimes (most of the times) I dont.
So my question is how to know when to drop the bomb to hit the wanted place?
And another question for attack helicopters, I was flying a cobra couple of days ago on Muttrah and the guy that was gunning asked me do I know the triangle that attack helicopter pilots need to know about the gunner's field of view depending on height and distance of the target, so is there any triangle around that I can have a look at it?

1. Jets do not have "dumb bombs". They are laser guided like missiles
2. Not really sure what you are asking.. maybe put it into different terms?

Thinking he means the cone of fire/ visible area that gunner can shoot. That way the pilot knows that the gunner can get an angle on the target.

Yeah that is what I mean Spuz, and by dumb bombs, I mean when you dont have a laze and need to drop bombs on certain area. I know how to use dumb A10 ATGMS, but not the dumb bombs

You will have to risc alot by flying within in the AA range and not being sure to hit it even after that.PatrickLA_CA wrote:how to know when to drop the bomb to hit the wanted place?
In those scenarios of having to engage a certain target which cant be lased then strafe it with your cannon at an high altitude.

About those bombs, its not hard, you just have to fly in about 70-90 degrees towards ground with a stabilised horizon. Hopefully the image explains it. Center red dot is directly under the end of green line of aiming sight, which is the best place to have the target when you want to drop bomb. Based on your incoming angle the place moves on the red line. Basically its best to drop bomb when you have the target on the red dot, should be enough for splash to kill target. Should also work on BVR fire (but you never know if it wont find a lase to lock onto).

Thank you, I never knew how do bombs fell in PR, and does anyone have an idea of that cone of fire?

Cone of fire. Very important for any CAS pilot to know what his gunner can see. The best way to figure this out, gun yourself for one round, get a feel for what the gunner NEEDS from the pilot. However, if you are too lazy to do this, I will try to the best of my ability to explain it to you.
First and foremost, the gunner can not see directly beneath you. Their line of sight is a 70 degree frontal angle at best.
Secondly, the gunner cannot see as high as the pilot, by this I mean when your looking around and you see a BTR, and say "he is right in front of us look!" if you are not at a high enough altitude odds are the gunner cannot see the target. Generally I would say its safe to assume a 5 meter drop from where your hydra reticle is. (this is hard to gauge though, just keep a mental note that they cannot see as high as you)
Thirdly, the gunner has about an 85 degree angle of vision to both flanks. This is important to note because you want to be in the best position to provide optimum visuals for your gunner.
Fourthly, and a less important note. If you can see a an enemy vehicle way off in the distance, and the gunner says he can't see the target, odds are he has thermals engaged, with thermals you have about 100-150 fewer meters of distance. Inquire if he does have thermals engaged if so tell him to switch. DO NOT hang around to find this information out, pull back, inquire, reposition, destroy.
