[Video/AAR] Iron Eagle Recon Mission

Post by Stoic Sentinel »

The Story: We were dropped off by helicopter insertion on the road near the dry river bed near the IDF Artillery Emplacement by our pilot MikeDude[NL], in Iron Eagle. We were doing forward recon for our team, all by ourselves surveying an enemy Forward Operating Base. While we were spotting the FOB, an enemy officer went onto a nearby plateau, completely unaware of us. We fired in unison until his body went limp and he fell to the ground. A few minutes, an enemy rifleman came onto the plateau and wounded one of our guys. Our medic took quick care of him and managed to patch our rifleman up. We were spotted by a TOW but quickly suppressed it before it could fire off a round and were shot at by an HMG. Our LMG man fell, but our medic, got him up quickly.

While we retreated down a hill, we came under fire from an IDF squad on a hill. Our squad leader (|TG-189th|crawly) coordinated the weapons team's retreat (LMG and medic), he had two of us (riflemen) put suppressing fire on the ridgeline. Our LMG set up and suppressed the hill before our SL ordered us back.

When we reached the edge of the hill, a HMMWV rolled into sight and put fire on us. I quickly lined up the IDF squad leader that was calling targets and shot a few tracers at him. The rest of the squad quickly got the message and got rid of him quickly. Without a spotter, the HMMWV gunner was blind and our LMG opened up until he stayed down.

We went further down the hill before our SL called for a helicopter to extract us and popped yellow smoke as he got close. Once the helicopter touched down, our entire squad piled in and we took off.

This was one of the best/most successful recon missions I've ever gone on, thanks to the leadership of Crawly and the cooperation of the squad. We spotted the enemy firebase, took down two enemy officers and some rifleman, completed a textbook extraction, and had not lost one man during the entire duration of the mission.

Unfortunately, I only took video of the extraction (that and I forgot to set the sound on because I was kinda in a hurry :p ) and I forgot the names of our other rifleman, LMG, and medic if you remember being in my squad on this epic occasion, please step forward ;)

Damn, freaking nice recon operation you got there, that's the kind of scenarios that every new players should live to give them a boost of "this game is so awesome". Its all of this that let you keep good memories about PR and good rounds :D . Loved your retreat tactic too!

That sounded fun!

Just a quick question, though... was that FOB taken out later? Because... well, you did kill the couple of officers but, due to PR's nature, they could've quickly been revived/respawned... Unfortunately :(

But that sounded nice!
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

We did another insertion later and built up an FOB in the canyon thing and attempted to take the enemy FOB down. We had to hold our position because there was too much resistance.

Eventually, the team came in force (2 tanks and infantry, but the tanks were unfortunately all taken down by the 2 TOWs we had warned them about beforehand). The round ended with a MEC victory (5 - 0) before we made any head-way, although we did get an assault squad up to the FOB itself.
