[AAR] 0.957 - one of my best rounds as SL (Insurgency)

Post by ryan d ale »

Hi.

Just wanted to say as a traditional Opfor player, I've had a really good round leading as the Taliban. Normally, I dislike the pressure of squad leading and feel bored/useless but it is strange that on the 1st time I SL on .957 as Taliban that I enjoyed it - everything seemd to fit together nicely.

However, it feels like the grenade throw distance has been reduced?

Another flaw is that I was on an almost full server - lots of enemy contact and I'm the only SL marking targets :(

I look forward to many more rounds leading.

What do you guys think - do you ever mark targets with the cellphone?

How is INS gameplay for you?

INS as a squad leader feels boring, there really isn't that much to do.

Most of the time I just set up an ambush, while most of the time doing that is spent REPEATEDLY telling my squaddies where to stand and what to do. Feels like I'm commanding a bunch of 5 year old kids.

I love insurgency, but too much of the time is spent standing around doing nothing.

its a great feature but on many servers only rarely used! thats my impression. marking targets and by that providing information to your team is not just essential, its often also a great feeling when you see that by your intel given the team can recognize and react and start a counter attack or set up a massive defense line!

excellent possibility and its use is far not maxed out!

you are talking about 0.957 and not 0.957b, right?

there is always! often i see squads in insurgency mode not even having an officer, incomprehensible to me! build hideouts, use your cellphone to provide intel, help your team and let your squad grab the supporting kits.

sure as squadleader you may grab some other kit at some point, like when all the dirty work is done (setting up assets and marking), but i find it inevitable to have officers working properly in INS mode!

Raid, and fake-cache. Haven't tried the latter in 0.95 but I'm confident that it can still work.

The former is to be done when there is downtime between knowns, simply to keep the BLUFOR busy or to eliminate a firebase.

We used to do it with two cars with 6 men in each.

I don't have the authority or means to get two squads to work together lol...

It's usually about 5 half competent people.

Playing as a Taliban SL is very relaxing sometimes actually, because there are no hard tactics. I normally just tell people where to go (ie. Let's defend the cache/let's rampage/let's take out that FOB!) and whoever wants to join me, go ahead.

These guys did, and it was a real ball round!
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

Another excellent round - this time on Kokan.

I like this - 2 rounds in a row of consistant quality gameplay all except two CTDs in an hour this time!

Mid round and end of round.

I think you mean the Stinger :P

Unless the Taliban have both?

Also, I do have to agree about the sound!

It's a great noise when you're trackign a heat source. I can't recall the lock sound though - only got one lock and I decided to try and be cocky and activated fraps before launch and so sadly I destroyed a flare.

Another amazing round as an SL - this time on Fools Road.

Being an SL has never been easier/more fun!

I thought they only had the Sa-7, or at least it was the default kit.
