Will PR:Vietnam still be released?
I noticed an update from Trahn today that stated that his hard drive, which contained the only build of EoD:2, crashed and that all data was lost.
What does this mean for the future of PR:Vietnam? Here's the post:
Eve of Destruction

Other people like [R-COM]Hangman were also working on it so they too could have the data. No doubt other maps are available for use/can be developed, and IIRC alot of the stuff can simply be ripped from the most recent EOD release?

Re: Will PR:Vietnam still be released?
We're still working on it, progress is not too fast as most of us are either taking a well deserved break (and play the game), or busy with fixing bugs. But, PR:V is alive alright

AFAIK stuff that was included from EoD already is safe in the PRV repository.

Even I know at the end of the day the only certainty with computers is that the Hard drive WILL die sooner or later.
I'm sure all the PR files are backed up all over the place.

To bad about the death of EOD, by far the best mod of 1942. Still has some of the best maps ever in my opinion. Some real classics in there.

mostly All of Bf2 Mods are Dying .... looking at the amount of servers that are up per mod .. .. it makes you appreciate PR that much more because all of those mods are just ... done people have moved on mostly but ... PR V will undouptidly replace other BF2 Mods ... for people who want the Vietnam theme gamplay

EoD for BF1942 is still very much alive, thank you very much.Sneak Attack wrote:EOD 42 died along time ago when people stopped playing it...

We have also put out a fixed/updated version of EoD on the BFV game engine. This was done a few months ago and it too, is slated for some future updates.
The only thing that will probably not happen again is another version of EoD on BF2. As most of that data was lost to a HD failure that I had on my one computer. I cannot get motivated to recreate from scratch that build of the mod, with such a limited player base.
As far as PR Vietnam. The stuff for it was and is on a SVN FTP, so it is all secure and safe. I also have all my 3ds Max scenes, PSD Texture templates and other odds and ends for this version of the mod. It will happen. We can still do it.

I must say I'm pretty curious what you were building there in the dark for EoD (bf)2 there, Trahn ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
(before it got lost of course

Re: Will PR:Vietnam still be released?
Just updates Wakain. Nothing more.. I had done some fixes that I released as a patch.. Those were integrated into the last build. In addition, there were some minor map fixes and other little additions. Nothing big tho. I still have a build on this computer that I might be able to resurrect, but it too, was not the latest and greatest of the mod.Wakain wrote:I must say I'm pretty curious what you were building there in the dark for EoD (bf)2 there, Trahn

Thanks for the update!
Also, thanks for the mods for not closing this down. I thought this was another thread asking about a time.
Anyway, me and several others are looking forward to this mod!

Glad to hear the project is still on course... a few updates, teasers etc would be nice for the community.
