Probably not because it would require too much work to skin all the models the right way

would be nice but all comes down to one thing, more work

would be a very nice addition maybe over time when the mod develops but i doubt we will see this in its first release

but who knows? (apart from devs) ;)

I don't foresee this, as everyone else has said, BUT I would love to see a Cavalry patch on the Huey :p

Let me get this straight . . . you want us to change the distinctive unit insignia, nationality and branch dependent, for each skin on each map by location and time period? And still have a reasonable DL time?

I think probably the best you're going to get is service branch and time period distinctions.

I think the closest we could get to this would be to stick a unit insignia on the overview image.... and that would look extremely tacky :p Plus it adds zero to the gameplay, infact it could even detract as all the people race around trying to find out what division/unit is on each map lol.

That's not possible, because the devs would need to make an entire faction for each unit, with different unit insignias, maybe even different paitings for some vehicles, etc. Unique assets as well. This would make the file size way too big.

EDIT: Oh, wait, they already said that above. LOL.

Huey is a Huey, pink, yellow, with or without calvary emblem. Too mcuh work for this poor hardworking team with gamepaly value.

It's a work vs reward thing lutefisk:
Yes they could take the time to texture assets according to actually units involved at the battles. This requires a large time investment with regards to finding reference material and doing the actual texture work. And while this adds authenticity to PR:V in a visual sense, it's a lot of time spent on merely cosmetics. And while I'm not saying cosmetics aren't important (as demonstrated by the high quality work done on the models and textures)
this might be case of getting lost in details at expense of the bigger picture. Doing it now would push the release further back. This idea seems like something they could do way farther down the line once they have a couple versions of playable game out.

In short look at it this way: would you rather have a PR Highlight showing off pictures of the completed unit identification markings or a Highlight showing the change log for the first version of PR:V?

Guys, it will be like PR, and in PR we don't have specific units, so this topic is kind of redundant.

Lutefisk wrote:I'm not really thinking that specific, buy I am more thinking of having the emblem on the nose of the huey's and bigger things (like tanks and airplanes). From the pictures I have seen it appears that the infantry didn't wear their units patch (someone correct me on this), so I suppose that one would not have to change them accordingly to the location or area.

I am not asking you to change every thing to the specific era, just the assets.
Just the assets? Your kidding... You want reskins on everything to show unit insignias? And yes the US soldiers did wear unit insignia on their uniforms. So thats even more to reskin. Not gonna happen buddy.

Is that why the British on Al Basrah have the 16AA badge on? :P

What I'd be interested in is will there be Australian units or French units or whatever? Not sure when they were involved in vietnam but it was around the same time.
