Re: Snipers:Real use
Sniper is really pointless... it should be 1 shot 1 unrevivable kill, so you actually do something, right now its pointless, you can do recon with SL kit, or any other kit wich has binoculars...

Then put a second bullet in him...there is nothing that can t be solved by the proper amount of lead.

Im never playing as sniper but i rather have m249 and put heavy fire on his head than preform a fail shot at enemy SL plus he has a medic 1m away so tis a waste of bullet. If you shoot again from same location, the next second you're eating lead...

Being under sniper fire has a HUGE psychological effect on a squad, one of them has just gone down, the medic doesn't really want to move out of cover in case he get's hit, they shouldn't know where you are. That squad isn't moving for a while.ChizNizzle wrote:Im never playing as sniper but i rather have m249 and put heavy fire on his head than preform a fail shot at enemy SL plus he has a medic 1m away so tis a waste of bullet. Oh yeah - if the medic can revive the guy you shot - YOU CAN SHOOT THE MEDIC. Simples.

exactly! Or better, shoot the medic first! Kill the medic than the officer, without them the squad is useless. Or hold your fire and take better targets like .50 gunners or people building a FOBHerbiie wrote:Being under sniper fire has a HUGE psychological effect on a squad, one of them has just gone down, the medic doesn't really want to move out of cover in case he get's hit, they shouldn't know where you are. Well , i hate when i wait 4-5 seconds and then shoot and miss to a standing still target , i dont know how is that posible , and i think wating few second while Prone is usless , since when your prone your gun dosent more or nothing . Maby im not right but if your got your rifle steady while prone theres no point to waste another 4 seconds waiting . Alot of stuff can go wrong in 4 seconds . But As i said , maby im wrong.

Snipers are useless. A lot of times, you would have to shoot someone twice to kill them. Very CoD4ish. Especially since headshots don't kill, you would have to constantly shoot them down, by which point, they would have revived and move out or found out your position and started mowing you down.
If you want to shoot people from long range, the SAW is a much more attractive choice of weaponry to piss people off or if you want to lase, the officer kit is your friend. I personally use the sniper kit to fool around or when I am bored.

By anti-material, do you mean glass? I shot a guy through the logi truck glass window about 600 meters away once.PR.Nato.Swordfish wrote:no one even mentions anti material

On Kashan, the difference between a sniper and an officer is that sniper can eliminate threads to his own CAS. 99% of the time, I am on the recieving end mostly as a medic and believe me, a good sniper is not useless. Infantry often has to call some sort of support to in order to eliminate him.

"Real life" are keywords there.loki1120 wrote:Well, a real life snipers job is about 90% Recon and surveillance, 10 % taking a shot, normaly on standard missions. and its one shot then move unless they are supporting an element during a diliberate attack. Having Guili suits back would be nice too but maybe make it so that you can turn it off and on?

Re: Snipers:Real use
I don't think there is much of a recon element as a sniper in PR:Bf2. I think you'd best use a regular soldier to do any recon if necesary because
1) His kit is by a long shot not as valuable as a sniper's
2) He has the same chance of being detected.
3) The binoculars are equally good compared to the QLTD/Sniper scope since the view distance is limited in such a way Bino's do the job just as good at identifying a target.
The only thing a Sniper kit is useful for and then I mean the ONLY thing is spotting for CAS. the QLTD makes you able to lase targets meaning high precision CAS.
The sniper itself is rather useless since anyone killed will have spawned back in one minute. The only time your pin point accuracy will come in handy is when picking of a lone sqaud wandering miles away from a nearby FOB.

Re: Snipers:Real use
lets be totally honest with ourselves.
We are all probably sitting on about 75% shooting 25% CAS spotting , surveillance.
If not, you're lying to yourself.
you should b averaging 20-30 kills a round with a sniper kit (on muttrah atleast) thats a big help to the team for one person and a hell of alot more useful than 1 person in a squad.
