think mounted infantry, crossed with mechanised infantry. it's a decidedly australian concept. it would be akin to a US striker brigade with aslav25's and aslav-pc's in stead of the strikers. if i remember correctly the lav crew's call them "gun cars" but best person to ask on this is crisso. he has intimate knowledge on the subject.

There is some wasted space. Just wanted to know if there was anything obviously fubar before I tweak it some more. Undersides are a bit too small as well. Quite a few bits too close and too small as well.

Apart from some things being a bit too close together as you mentioned, it looks good to me! :)

you might want to add some bags and other props that can be put into the storage areas or just the sides of the vehicle?

I would love to add more bags/stowage and give it some individuality, but I am at 9.5k tris :\

I can/will happily add more, just thought this was touching on the max tri count.

i would add them, and if possible also make the ASLAV and USMC one differe a bit more (by different layout of the props and possible different props too)

This would up tris some more, but would a couple of (very) low poly bags on the empty side of it be possible? I remember seeing that kinda stuff on the side alot on pics. Looks great though. :D

I did put one on the side at first, however, I think pimping out the stowage bays is a lot more common on the ASLAVs while the US LAVs have a lot more bags simply tied on the sides. Hopefully this will giving US version a lot bags and the Aussie one a lot more stuff in the bays will give some individually to both rather than players being able to tell its very much the same model.

US LAVs

That is just what I was thinking anyway :p

Ite put a bag of dicks on the side. Going to add it to the uvs when I get back from work. Also staps will z-fight to hell but not much I can do, better than just having them float.

I might be able to claw some tris back by kill some back faces off them, although It is still looking like it will end up around 10.7/8K.

Looking good, just remember the bags are blocking the vision ports, meaning the people in the back left will either have to black screens or a modeled interior. You could remove the rear bag but put it on the side of the turret, still keeping the same realistic aesthetic, but freeing up the views.

psst, model an interior

You could just have the passengers pop out the top hatches, would be an interesting change of pace I think.

I suggested that, it was shot down for a myriad of reasons.

Could just have them looking 'through' the bags of dicks, unrealistic though.

Good point. The ref I was going off had them all obscured by stowage, but what is the point of a vision port if you cant see out of it? (gameplay-wise). :)

There is one modeled, for the ASLAV at least. PC will need its own. Still got a way to go before its done tough.

Once the ASLAV is done, most of the rails/wheels/random bits can just be 'copy+pasted' over with their respective UV's saving a lot of time. So once one of the apcs is done the other will come along a lot faster.

With an interior modeled would players have the option of looking inside or outside (via view ports)?

Also, what about spare tires? I haven't seen a photo of an ASLAV carrying one yet, but the LAV-25 commonly appears to. In the exact same spot you've placed the 'bag of dicks'.

The vanilla LAV-25 has a spare on the 'hood', but I can't find any RL images that support that placement.

I really like the look of equipment stowed on vehicles, I imagine camo netting would add too many polys and/or cause z-fighting issues (if not more).

Either way, it's not like APCs/IFVs perform their primary roles in most games. Would have been nice to start seeing some differentiation between factions but w/e.
