Played 3 rounds and lost them all - end of Fallujah West, Qwai and Beirut. However, it didn't matter because I was in a squad with my mate from down the road and this great guy called M4in (if you read this). He was SL in the mortar squad, so me and friend log on and say hey, why not, let's see if mortars need any help. 'Always, come on in!' was the answer, so we spawn in and move out. I had never used a mortar before so M4in and the other mortar shooter were very patient in guiding me through aiming and firing. My friend grabbed a sniper kit and started spotting.
Very soon I got the hang of dialing in the mortar quickly and getting rounds on target, it's fun! My spotter friend said it was a joy to see enemies, call out their location and then see rounds come in and wipe them out!

For all three rounds we set up mortars and rained down hell on the enemy team. On Qwai there were only three of us so we had just one mortar with me shooting, we even got praised a couple of times for our good effect on target

Set up in the factory on Beirut, it was great fun popping off mortars, then running back and forth in a logi truck getting ammo, then at the end of the round having to defend the base from IDF attack.
M4in was helpful throughout, advising on what ammo ot use, running around spotting targets. Never to serious, but always getting the job done, putting teamplay first.
All in all a good evening

TL;DR, mortars are cool and PR can still be awesome!
