[Video] "Operation Faillord" or "Misguided Archer"

Post by KiloJules »

Soooo...Since it was lots of fun and one of my favorite PR moments in some way I'll tell you a short story and I say to everybody who wants to show his view of it: Do so!
Let's make this a collection of impressions about a teamwork moment that we wont forget!

---------------------

Map/Side: Canadians on Operation Archer
Server: TG
Featuring: 3 Chinooks (Forrest, AnimalMother, Aimed);
3 Full squads (Led by: DBzao, SmukeUK, ???)

---------------------

After, what I believe, 3 caches the next one showed up right in/on the Fortress. As the team had a more or less good "flow" a plan about air-landing troops right into it was made up. Meanwhile two other squads took out another unknown all the way up north.
We got everything we needed: An area attack to rain down on the castle and enough transport to get half the team up there at once. The idea was simple but "you gotta do what you gotta do"! Every chopper was to land on another platform, so that we gain control of every corner at once. Smuke got a ride out of main to be able to call in the area attack. As he came back we hoped in, the other two chinooks were already waiting, the mortars already dropping in. "GO GO GO!"

This is what happened:

----------------------

Sorry for the missing audio but I just can't get my VirtualDub to put out video and audio at once. Either I have the one or the other depending on wether I set "direct streamcopy" or any sort of compression in the audio options. Still new to this ;)

----------------------

Now again: Share your view of this cause as you can see in my video: I didn't see much!

Even though this was a complete failure and many said so in game, this is why we play PR!

Actually I can't remember but I think it came with 0.957...
Find it totally unnecessary though. Every time someone for instance asks how to set up this or how to change that in some menu I have to re-translate it. Especially for new players it is not that good at all. But anyway: STOP DERAILING MY THREAD!

Looked like a good plan! Not really sure where it went wrong due to the lack of audio tho!

Oh man this was so much fun! Who cares if it failed, we tried and it looked epic. I think there's an 'external' view video being uploaded from Sqd 7's (FSG/Mortars) who were out to the west. Bad thing was they got ambushed watching us go in!

Main part of the fail was Forrest couldn't land on the tower (it was littered with AT mines) so had to guess when his back end was over the tower. He guessed wrong and db's squad just fell out the back and died instantly.

It just shows to have fun in PR it doesn't have to go to plan. Best moment for me since i returned to PR recently

Lol we watched that from a comfy techie position and although epic it was the funniest thing i think i've ever seen when a full squad just fell out of a chinook followed by another chinook doing EXACTLY the same thing :D

Of course us shooting at them didn't help..

Aside from that GG don't know if you knew but that was an unknown right next to your mortar position so there was a high chance of you winning if you took that castle cache. And there was some fantastic battles at the caches.

hahaha :P I can see it now :P A whole squad plummeting to its death, when a moment before they thought: YEA! We are bad-*** special forces dropping here securing this cache!

It looked cool from the map view as well! Those 3 chinooks going to there target.

Castle Cache + Grenadier + Archer Slits = OP

We only had one combat engi, a medic and a grenadier in the main tower and like two riflemen in the courtyard to hold that off too. Goes to show how damn defensible that castle is but I guess you know that's what castles are made to do.
