One way of commanding

Post by Tequnique »

Ive seen a few nice tips here in this thread.
Some covering basic commanding stuff and others talking about communication.
I would like to talk abit about strategy and tactics which could aid a beginner or advanced commander.

1) EVALUATE AND PLAN:
a) Evaluate the squads and try to assess their abilities.
b) Make sure the squads know what to do.
c) Assign specialists squads like: Transport, Spec Ops and Armour.

2)BLITZ ATTACK!:
a)QUICKLY send the squads you believe has the greatest ATTACK potential to forward strategical positions where they can slow down the enemy advance.
b) The Attack team(s) can also report enemy movement to reveal their plans at an early stage of development.

3)SECURE THE REAR:

a) The slower squads can be used for capturing the first CP's.
b) Make sure to create a Bunker in a safe location in case forward squads fail to push the enemy back.
c) While one squad builds send the rest of the squads to secure the flanks:

4) COORDINATED PUSH
(check if enough tickets):
a) Once the rear and flanks are secured you may decide to push forward. Make sure you have enough tickets as ATTACK COSTS MORE TICKETS THAN DEFENSE.
b) Link up squads so they can cover eachother. Ask the squads to HOLD until all squads are ready and in position to push.

USEFUL TIPS:
* SAFETY FIRST: Full defense is more important than emty offense. Take your time and secure potential vulnerable CP's before pushing forward. As you push, make sure to have a squad to guard the rear of the assault.

* DEFEAT THE ENEMY RP's NOT THE SQUADS!!!!
"to remove the cause of illness is best" -Hipocrates
The best way to destroy the enemy is to destroy their RP's quickly.
You should have a squad specialized on finding and attacking RP's.

* SEIZE THE HIGH GROUNDS: High grounds are IMPERATIVE for both Offense and defense. Armour on high grounds can cover large portions of the map.

* ATTACK EMPTY, AVOID FULL:
To avoid suffering ticket losses avoid attacking enemy strong points. Remember that the enemy can't defend everywhere at the same time.
Finding the enemy weak spots is very important before attacking.
This can be done by sending scouts.

* SPEC OPS:
Spec op teams are underrated.
Send continuous attacks on enemy Bunkers and Command posts, bridges and supply trucks to slow down the enemy.
Spec ops can also be used as FORWARD OBSERVERS to report enemy activity without being seen.

hmm the only problem doing all that though is...yes its a great idea and i wouldn't mind using it myself if i was commander on PR or BF2...but..sometimes not all the squads listen to the commander and go about doing whatever the hell they want....i think if this was going to be done...they should just kick/ban all the people that don't want to use teamplay etc...because i for one....like working as a team...i just think working as a team, you get things done twice as fast and also able to hold flags and objectives easier!.

this is perfect tactic, but there is one big problem: It only works in perfect conditions too, i mean, as soon as you have expirience players in your team, they are VOIPed and listen to you, they give you some feedback/advices. Wich is the biggest problem on PUB, really difficult to find more than 1/2 orginised squads.

if we would kick everyone who does not follow orders at all times, our server would be completely empty around lunchtime... :D
