[Q] How to shoot RPG 7 effectively
I just started playing as the RPG guy for insurgents recently and is having very great difficulties hitting enemy apc. The RPG in 0.91 seems more powerful since its a 7VR tandem round and there are many lying around so i thought why not put it to good use and go get some strykers and LAVs. But the problem is they are usually found camping quite a distance out like 200m onwards. My question is how should you allign the sights for the various distance to account for the "rocket drop" or whatever you call it since its quite alot of drop and have made me miss Strykers at a distance of about 150m by quite alot. Thanks.

Firing out to that distance is something only experience and luck can teach you tbh as the rocket flight is so variable, it really is very very difficult to get a hit at long range. There isn't too much deviation so long as you stay still for at least 4 seconds, so you just have to account for the drop. If im firing at range i'll try and get off a sighting round, see where that hits and then adjust appropriately.
Simple advice though is to flank the armour whilst it is camping and hit it from the side or wait for it to come in close.

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

i'm too lazy to do pictures right now, but RPG ironsights is perfect to align 150m and 250-300m shots
start up local and try it at this distances, you will figure it out quickly

100m ->no compensation/1mm
200m ->2-3mm, depending on target height
250m ->3-4mm
300m ->this also depends on you luck, but usually 5-7mm
400m ->7-9cm, and a shitload of luck
500m ->1cm
550m ->my personnal record, AFAIK yamalia, APC, 1-1,2cm
now i havent played for about 1 month, and these values are from memory, but if you use them you'll probably hit or be quite close, and then tweak it to get the desired effect.
values are for RPG7, for tandem you have to compensate about 2x more, but i haven't shot it much. (however i managed to destroy an apc at 300m with 1cm compensation that might give ya a hint)

Up to 100m it's easy to hit big targets like an APC etc. For further distances: Experience and a little bit of luck. I play PR since .86 . Now I can hit almost everything up to ~450-500m or it gets dangerously close. Sometimes it fails, sometimes you make a direct tank kill and you get 50 virgins (
). Open a local server and try it out. It will surely help!

With the scoped RPGs, anyone know if the left markings are for LAT and the right for HAT or vice versa?.

A little bragging: A few days ago on Laskhar Valley we managed to steal a german LAT kit. The APC was just within view range and my squadleader ranged it to 650 meters. It was a direct hit and he exploded moments later.
Point is if the rocket has a scope the range markers are usually accurate, the trick is to learn range estimation. For the unscoped rockets? Excperience and luck is your best bet. Like others have said you can create local games and practice all you want.
