Where will the battle take us?
I've been pretty much asking myself this question for a long time now. Where will Project Reality Vietnam take us. Into the Dense Urban Cities of Hue and Saigon. Or the steamy humid Jungles of Nam where death looks behind every rice paddy dyke or Bush. Or even the Dark Dangerous Tunnels of Cu Chi. Running Special Operations in the Ho Chi Minh Trail? Well its all up to the date its release. I'm also interested in a PR:V Style of Insurgency. Taking out enemy Weapon or Food Caches. Patrolling the hostile jungle environment of the Southeast Asian Country. Boat Patrols Up and down the Mekong. Air Mobile Divisions Dropping troops into hostile zones. I know some of this may sound out of the ordinary by PR Standards. But who knows this mod can make it big.

Well it all depends on the maps which are very hard to come by, especially ones that are up to PR standards. PRV could use some mappers that are willing to work on some.

True Mapping is the worst part of it. So far I've played Each EOD, Classic, Vietnam and 2 I'm really looking forward to a PR Version of it though. I'm not no mapper though :/ You can think of 100000000 Ideas but when it actually comes to making it happen that's the hard part.[R-DEV]Spush wrote:Well it all depends on the maps which are very hard to come by, especially ones that are up to PR standards. Probably not as hard as you think, you've just got to put the time into it:'CPT.D.Tedd[82AD wrote:;1737357']You can think of 100000000 Ideas but when it actually comes to making it happen that's the hard part.

There's a difference between 'ideas' and 'good ideas'
And mapping isn't particularly hard in any game, not compared to other creation elements, like modeling, texturing, programming...

Oh please dont be ignorant, everything is equally hard or easy, depending on the skill of the maker.CommunistComma wrote:There's a difference between 'ideas' and 'good ideas'

But if you think so, be our guest and make a map that beats Fallujah, Sangin, Shijija and some other detailed maps... Afterall, its easy.
I would help in mapping, but i am too lazy to begin learning... (started like 4 times, but dropped after creating the ground.) Sadly, as i have millions of hours of free time.

lmao. Take it from me, someone who is an all round odd jobs man, from making statics, weapons, vehicles and maps (and also for a few different engines), that it isn't...CommunistComma wrote:And mapping isn't particularly hard in any game, not compared to other creation elements, like modeling, texturing, programming...
Making a basic map is yes, pretty easy to do, just like making a really basic model is again, something pretty easy to do but to make a totally refined map with all the elements is not something that's easy...
Mapping also requires quite different skill sets from modelling/texturing, as your making something which is going to define how the gameplay of the game/mod your making it for is interpreted and as such, its not about just making something look pretty, its about making something that plays well too.

'[R-DEV wrote:Rhino;1554714']Statics and Overgrowth
For the staticobjects and overgrowth you are free to use any of vBF2s and PR:BF2s statics (providing they are not listed in this topic) which look like they belong in Vietnam back in the 60s. This also includes the new Jungle Overgrowth, which we hope to be releasing shortly for your use within PR:BF2/PR:V.
As for staticobjects and overgrowth from Eve of Destruction, we have yet to sort through the statics to see which ones we can and can't use. Once we've done that, we will post up the ones you can use in a nice bundle. For now, you should concentrate on your terrain and other areas rather than your statics placement.

I have to say it is confusing how this is labeled a minimod when infact it is being developed by the original developers and contradictory to the label 'mini-mod' and is more of a expansion package.

We might want to save judgement for a release before any of that, no?

PROFDLCPRV is the acronym for PR:V as of today according to Spush.
