[AAR] Sisu 96 Silent Eagle Thurs night

Post by PLODDITHANLEY »

I normally avoid SLing on the big server as I find it to much of a mess and I CBA to deal with 3/4 SM's who are trying to go do their own thing or can't talk.

But last night due too a distinct lack of anyone doing anything dull like FOB's or defending I start to solo build a few reserve FOB's as our trans pilot was able to drop me crates.

After getting killed by a tank I fell back to defend airfield as the previous flag, Clearing, was grey and looking like it would go Russian. Once more being the boring git that I am I started building a FOB and a few defences up in-case the battle came to airfield - by now a few idiots had joined my squad, Noumenonx, Fatman, Mouthpiece and a few more I can't remember.

Miraculously clearing was capped so we hopped on a Huey to get 300m East of the next flag and as is so often the case in PR we haven't got time to build our safe far from flag FOB before nasties turned up in the shape of a tank. The tank was taken down by a patiently aimed well flanked HAT and an incendiary on the tracks. Sadly enemy infantry accompanying the tank spelt the end of our brave attack.

Of course as Clearing was now capped the whole team leave it and go to the next flag  - so we all felt like it'd be best if someone defended it - us.

We get there and deploy a FOB but because some idiot had left the TOW at airfield :o ops: I couldn't deploy one. We were assaulted by a BMP and a tank and infantry from two directions. As always seems to happen to me I stick my head over a ridge to lase something for our CAS and the target is seemingly pointing straight at me so I'm dead, the CAS tried to go without a laze within VD but as often the case he got BMPed.

Our AT guys did a great job in dealing with them both, our two medics (I forget the names) did a great job quietly and calmly getting everybody up even helping the Turk squad 9 who were helping with defence doing a wide flank round clearing.

Not an awesome KD for anyone but I enjoyed it as good solid defending and as Sisu was at 96 players teamwork and comms were great but most importantly well done to all the guys with squad 8 German most fun I've had in a while.

I didn't have to babysit anyone, without any input from me we had two medics a HAT guy and even a useful sniper/marksman guy I guess I was lucky to find a group that were happy to do what needed to be done as opposed to what they prefer to do.

I joined your sq when we capped clearing. The defense of clearing was actually a good one, as we were just one sq there and we got attacked from both flanks by inf and armor. And I understand what you mean by "big sever squadleading mess" - usually you have to micromanage 7 or more ppl, but on a rare occasion (like this round) the squadies if competent enough can micro themselves. I also normally avoid SLing more than 5 ppl.

If I remember correctly, we lost by 150 tickets.

Oddly no idea who won, but I remember German CAS were both down within 5minutes....

Lots of talk of optimum big server size atm.....seems to be 95-115 ish to me.

I'd say somwhere from 100-128. For the idea that there are at least fiffy men coming to get you (poor lonewolfs) and that I can kill those men. "At least 50" is why.

At start in MTLB - took down two hueys and few inf on hilltop(?) and then got a tank, we camped a bit and started rolling forward to the clearing - we did not know what you had there. BMP got flanked and destroyed but me - while RTB TOW missile from god damn nowhere. :(

One of our squad was rightly delighted to get BMP, don't know where the TOW was wasn't us at clearing anyway.
