Falklands initial modding topic

Post by Pvt.LHeureux »

So since Rhino announced this mini-mod, I want to make this thread so people can discuss it and if people want to join Rhino in it just talk about your talents here. I guess he'll need 3D modelers mostly, since PR doesn't have an Argentinian army and british back there used other kind of weaponry

Falklands (Malvinas) Mini-Mod Announcement - Project Reality Forums

That's 3 mini-mods now, PR:Vietnam, Project Normandy and Falklands mini-mod.

EDIT : This thread might fit more in community modding section

I'm mapping but I don't think the mini-mods will need more maps since it already covers all the island hehe. So 3D modelers mainly and animators.

Ye, mainly modellers and texture artists needed here to replace the place holders with there proper assets.

As for mappers, I'm really mocking up this map super fast so there is quite a lack of detail of staticobjects on the map, just the basic buildings and randomly placed rocks/bushes so there is a lot for a mapper to do on the map itself to add detail etc.

There is also South Georgia which could be made hehe :p

If it works well it's an open door to larger maps

Maybe not all 16km x 16km but 8km x 8km is quite enough.

It doesn't :p

Very hard to work with, you loose a lot of things like undergrowth etc so really wouldn't recommend it.

Oh yeah, working with undergrowth must be hell on such big maps, BF2Editor must be always crashing :S

Well not having undergrowth is acceptable on this map since those islands are/were mostly mud, dirt and rocks.

Well there is that map for BF2 called "Falklands". It's comes NavMeshed and all and is quite fun. I imported that map into PR and occasionnally enjoy a match between GB and MEC AI.

The AIX one?

From what I can tell its based on the Battle of Goose Green and not the entire falklands, although it dose the goose green spot much better than my map, mainly due to the scale hehe.

Yeah that was the one I was talking about. Anyways if I understand well you're not gonna make several maps depicting several battles (Goose Green, Mt. Tumbledown, etc.), but one big map of the whole island?

FAIL! :P . I did not think about that.

Well Rhino you may know what happened on that war, so I just have a question, are you going to make it realistic, or balanced?, because of the lack of the assets both army?s had. Just being curious.

Welcome to the forums!

PR:Vietnam will be released the day after tomorrow (hopefully) link

PR:Normandy yes was released, but dont know if its being played regularly. It has its own forum section here. There are Normandy events from time to time.

PR:Falklands have just been started, so realy dont know when is Rhino going to release them.

Rhino, once I am done my own personal animation projects i'll get my friend to run me through the modeling process. I already can model very basic things, but i need to recap on things like texturing and bump, mapping.

I resent the fact that i couldnt do more for PN so i would be happy to help when i am free.
