Hello all. I searched on general discusssion under M14 and did not find a thread, so I want to start thread about discussing M14 Depiction of Handling.
If there is any bug regarding M14 handling on current beta release and it is not what Mod intended, I do not mean to offend anyone.
I have posted few thread about gun handling regarding PR in past years like AK47 handling etc. First I want to state disclaimer that I did not have chance to shoot or own these guns before in real life and most of information I obtain regarding gun handling is from either book, internet material, or watching related TV shows such as Discovery and History.
My stance on M14 handling in current stage is too controllable.
It is more controllable than AK47 in both single and burst.
On burst fire its grouping is similar to M16.
Single shot recoil is nowhere near G3, or FAL, and similar to M16. And I have heard G3 has least recoil amongst other Battle Rifle such as M14 because of its roller locking mechanism.
I also think FAL/G3 being more controllable than PKM is unrealistic supposedly PKM is about twice as heavy using same full sized ammunition. But could this be because of other game reason? Or is this realistic depiciton?
Please discuss, and if M1A owner or M14 users are here, please post how this gun handles.

Re: M14 Handling
I own an M1A SOCOM 16. Handles like a charm. I just think the m14 gets a bad rap due to the higher caliber it fires.

Re: M14 Handling
It's true that the recoil of the M14 is pretty weak when compared to G3/FAL. Anyway, with a 10 rounds mag you don't use full auto that much, especially when it's a one shot kill at close range (vision goes instantly B&W and you don't even have time to reach your field dressing, true story ^^). My favorite weapon in the minimod, AK47 being second for dense forest cleaning.
(edit, nvm, it's 20 rounds, looked like 10 due to high ROF)

Use a scope with the m14 and you will see how good the accuracy is. When firing auto I almost run out of mousemat before the 20 rounds are fired.

Re: M14 Handling
It is actually bugged, the current version has its fire rate set to 1200rpm, which means you're spitting out double the lead you would normally be and the amount of recoil thus affected.

I actually dislike using the M14, I can easily run through 4 mags because I run full auto for first contact. I probably just need to play more to get used to running semi-auto though.

Ok. I didn't know rate of fire bug affected recoil too. Thanks for letting us know.[R-DEV]Chuc wrote:It is actually bugged, the current version has its fire rate set to 1200rpm, which means you're spitting out double the lead you would normally be and the amount of recoil thus affected.
If it is bugged then I think it will be fixed and become relevant to other weapons in future.
But I still have two questions.
One, since this bug is at least I think affects the very core of game, is there going to be bug fix very soon even though it is beta?
Secondly, I noticed almost all weapons in this mod now has very low recoil compared to previous versions. And me, with no experience with real gun but think I have knowledge as I posted above, starts to think recoil simulation is rather weak and game like than simulator like. I remember posting similar comment years back in 0.9 area, and was told that (maybe it was you?) recoil has not been reduced, and entire idea of recoil itself will be simulated with different way.
I also noticed current recoil setting start to feel, at least what I think as realistic after server ping goes over about 100. Was this part of reason recoil was set as so?
