All you need to do is download Mumble, run the installer, when launching the program, you just type in your Nick Name and it auto connects you to the PR Mumble server, launch PR and mumble will link up to BF2, select a server that runs mumble most do, and Mumble will move you into the right server, squad, team.

Here's a guide, and a list of servers running mumble.

Mumble is installed. Maybe I've been connected all along and I've just not known what key to press to activate it. Do you have to press a key to talk through mumble?

Yeah, go into configure in the drop down menu select settings, select Shortcuts, and you can rebind keys.

Local Speech is a positional voip, anyone on your team can you hear you in a certain amount of distance, PR Coms ranges from 0 - 9 on the numpad by default numpad 0 is your squad talk, works like vBF2 VOIP. If your a Squad Leader numpad 1 - 9 you can talk to specific squads, then lastly numpad forward slash ( / ), you can talk to All Squads.

Audio input you can change your device to your specific device.
Audio Output you can change specific device.

Like I said launch PR Mumble, type in nick name, and it should auto connect to PR Mumble server after doing that, launch PR to play, mumble should connect to BF2, select a server for example any of the PRTA or Tactical Gamer servers, and Mumble should sort out the server, team, or squad your put in. And to talk just use your keybindings, it's not toggle so you have to hold the key when you want to speak.
