M14 advantages over M16?

Post by NoxNoctum »

I'm just curious is it more accurate or anything? Main reason I've been using it is just cause it feels more badass but I wonder if they are concrete reasons to as well :)

BTW love all the work you guys have done, I find the game is much more intense when no one has optics. A lot more blind automatic fire in the general direction of the enemy and all. Good stuff.

M14 has a better accuracy, does more damage and has a better sound (personally

M16 is easier to control (less recoil) and I think shoots faster in full auto.

Keep in mind the M14 currently has a firerate of 1200rpm - this will be reduced to 600rpm.
Also a change in projectile, but most won't notice that I think.

m14 is better at farther range than m16. m14 is more accurate in single shot, but more recoil so its worse in full. m14 i think has less shots per mag also.

i think its safe to assume that the top rifleman kit is short range and the bottom one is always for longer range.

the only one i dont see a point in is the ak74 vs ak47. the damage of the ak47 makes all the benefits of the 74 pointless imo. because the recoil of the 47 is controllable in full auto i find it best in almost all situations. there is a range between close and medium (~30 meters) that the 47 should have to go single where the 74 would still be full auto.

M14 and M16 both have 20 rounds. The M16 the officer uses has a larger magazine and features 30 rounds.

And.. (in PR Vietnam) only the AK47 is used, not the AK74.

Tell me more, Im curious about this.

The main advantige of M14 is that single shot disables enemy(black and white) and it is also more accurate than M16. I like also the model and sound much more than M16.

You guys are sure about accuracy ? I think that in PR all assault rifles/undeployed marksman rifles share the same accuracy model (except AK47 and AKS74u slighty less accurate).
Many thanks to everyone involved in the making of the best videogaming experience ever !

Prefer it as well. The M14 has it's advantages, but in PR:V most of the fights are pretty close, and that's where the M16 is a bit better. It is also way better for spraying multiple opponents at the same time asap, and I often manage to end up in situations where this is required.

And shit, didn't realize the officer kit has more rounds for the M16. Ten more rounds sounds way better, need to try that.

M16 is using 5.56 x 45mm
M14 is using 7.62 x 51mm

M14 is doing more damaged because its a bigger bullet.

its not the same rifle but you have the difference between 5.56 and 7.62

you can start at 4.30.

I thought that a lot of officers in nam used the first version of the M4 what is it called? Ohh, the CAR-15 not really an early version of the M4 but I looks like it and it feels bad ***.

M14 is so good. Doesn't matter if it's 2 or 200m away, always in single fire, one shot and your enemy is pretty much done for. So much ownage with it.

I was suprised to find the officer has a 30 round magazine in his M16. Didn't know they were around in Vietnam.

If you are referring to the RoF, then the change is obvious- M14 RoF isn't that high, IRL.

IIRC, the AK-47 isn't less accurate, it's just that the bullet drop starts after a shorter distance. Dunno about the AKS, though.

IIRC, 30 round magazines came later in the war.

How is the ROF currently 1200RPM on the M14? I thought BF2 engine only allowed 300,450,600,900, and 1800

I don't know, it was set to that. It's ultrafast right now, so put to 600.

I heard people say ingame that the m14 takes slightly longer to settle to maximum accuracy, is this true?

I prefer M16 so more stable even has less damage but sometimes its cool to go rampant with stronger bullet. Soldiers loved powerful M14 bullet as it could kill you even behind the tree or watever

Ok, So the M-14 right now is crazy
So is the M-16

I use some much ammo even when my enemy is right in front of me. I have Equive kills with my knife ( not the only reason but still )

M-14 is good for a novice who isn't that good at long-range iron-sights because its so easy to use. The M-16 has back draws to its fat model. ( I'm not asking for it to be redone, but its out there )

I use the M-16 as that 1 extra second til the * Click of death * is crucial.
I take M-16 over M-14 however the M-14 is nearing OP.

Considering the SKS is terrible, I'd say M-14 OP.

Want to know about the fat M16 I can explain but thats not the point
