Do you like it or not?

Post by Lemmy KillMister »

Hey, guys

I managed to play it for 1 hour. Then i was completely annoyed of this map.Im sorry to say that...

Its much too open, it has no good FOB positions. Flag ranges are too small.
The looks of the map is really nice - good work

As normal infantry I think its really hard - no scopes or binos.
This map is designed for pilots, crewmen and snipers... And thats not enough for a real good map.

Maybe I get used to it one day, but it will never ever be my favourite map.
Im more looking forward to the new normandy maps - wanna kill some nazis...

Last night some ppl complained a lot of it.
But don't forget one thing, PR needs teamwork, you can lase the APC or Sniper, then your pilots will blow'em up to sky-high. :p
Yes, some flags are hard to capture or defend cause of the opening field, for twice, I got killed by long range fire when attack northern flag.(dont remember it's name.)
Bad FOB position? I've never noticed that. LOL

BTW, those large rocks are good campping position.
Jolly, you such a retard.

It's good as it is now, as Jolly said, PR needs teamwork and this is the key to win in this map, like on PN, some guys could have sworn that would be impossible to pass trough the MG/Cannon barrage of the Germans, but they can, having a mix of suppressing fire and smoke grenades, the same can be done on PR:F

You can just (via mumble) tell to the CAS squad to guard your position against the enemy aircraft and be ready to call CAS against enemy infantry, it's not tricky.

Yeah, teamwork is the key, as a loner you cant have much fun, but playing in a cohesive and active squad with support from at least one other element in the team (be it other inf squad, scimi, cas or at least mortars) is great fun.

Yes, it surely needs teamplay but thats the aim of this mod in general.
But you all know theres often not enough teamwork on PR servers and in this case this map will be difficult to be played. But scoped kits (on most maps i prefer unscoped ones :) ) should be available. Same goes for binos. We dont have them on Normandy maps too but those maps are much smaller.

As I said, im missing some good FOB locations since Im a guy who likes to place hidden FOBs to have safer spawn locations. On big maps this is one of my favourite targets to fulfill...

However - I will get used to this map someday.

But I think on Falklands there was no scope for the normal infantry, only snipers and marksmans had it.

Scopes for the normal infantry is much more from actual warfare.

But, as you said, now PR don't have much teamwork as 2 years ago, you will see more teamwork on server events and organized rounds, maybe after the full release of PR:F the PRTA will do something.

Think about the gameplay changes you'll have to make. Teamwork is key with good fire suppression and tactics. I think this is a refreshing change from normal PR.

Funny thing is I first get accused by people like dtacs that PR:F isn't going to be any different from normal PR (before he even tried it) and as such, "its pointless new content", then I get accused from other people of it being too different from normal PR...

yes, it really has been designed for crewman when there is only one armored vehicle with a 20min delayed spawn time on the map...

Its been designed to reflect the real 1982 Falklands War, just like how normal PR is designed to reflect modern warfare. I have however tried to make it as fun as possible for all aspects of the battle, and from someone who likes to play all aspects from squad play to CAS, I wouldn't say its boring for infantry, if anything its something very fresh for infantry as you have new problems and ways of fighting to deal with which by this point in PR's life, I think many PR players are craving more than the traditional scope shootouts over 700m view distances.

Grass yes, it dose need grass, but undergrowth isn't possible with this type of terrain, not in any practice way that is good for performance and easy to archive anyways.

Trees, ye, loads of them on the Falklands.... :p

You can still hide FOs, just need to be a lot more creative as you also have to consider hiding them from the air, and at long ranges on the ground. But your better off making a defensible FO, rather than one that is going to be sooner or later discovered by the trickle of infantry coming from its direction.

Indeed, scopes as standard issue on a rifle is something that has only come in the past few years, in fact really from just after the Falklands for the Brits. Back then, Marksman where lucky to get a scope.

Spot the scope contest:
