So I was on my way to jump back into PR, spent about 3 hours waiting for my download to finish the .97 release when I go to my CD case. There I find my BF2 Manual with CD Key, CD 2, then CD 3, but no CD1. How the hell did I lose it?!
Does EA have any sort of backup for people that lose their disks? I know Blizzard lets you redeem your game with a legitimate CD key and battle.net account, but EA are too money grubby for that, huh? I would buy the game off origin if I wasn't scared PR wouldn't work through it and that would be a waste of $23 I don't have right now!
I googled around and most people suggest emulating the first disk and then installing from there but I can't find the first disk anywhere online, its been eclipsed by the hordes of people trying to steal the newer battlefield games!
I don't know what to do from here guys any ideas?! I am dying to play again, I haven't stimulated by good teamplay since I left PR during .7!

Keep in mind that retail Keys only work on retail copies of the game. Also, there were different versions of the retail CD, some with special forces, some with the content that became free in the 1.5 patch.
You already are looking through all the practical options, I hope you can find a disk out there.
The Origin version does work, also no need for "collectors edition" or whatever the more expensive one is called.
You can try the used market on EBay or Amazon sellers etc. will cost like $10 delivered.
Also, check out local Goodwill/Salvation Army, ... Craigslist ad?
all that kind of sourcing.
But yeah, Torrent it and use your legit serial CDKey ...

I searched and searched, alas all options looked too risky. I am thinking about getting it off steam because I have done so through them before and a friend says PR works for him no problems.
I don't have a vehicle today to go out and get it or I would try that, its kind of rainy here and I have spare time in the house! The mod is on my computer waiting to be installed and I am getting restless!
YYYYyyyyea I am going to buy it, I just got a small royalty check in the mail so why the hell not!?

I think you could add the game to steam via just typing in your code into steam or something like that then downloading/installing it off steam?
Then you wouldn't need to pay anything
BTW good to see you again TY2
EDIT: ye if you go onto steam then at the top on the games tab, click activate product on steam then if you type in your cd key you should get the game though steam without the need of your CDs

Well it looks like I can't play online still... I purchased the game off steam brand new and got the mod functioning but my WiFi can't keep up :[
IN other news I found my CD 1 and gave my old copy to my friend so he can play! Will have to move my computer downstairs before I will be able to play again though :[
