[Map] Sunset City
As many of you know after alot of comp issues and stuff i have finally got this baby finished, well almost . It started life as one of my suggestions that seemed to get a good response so i thought what the hell. Then Matt went to work to create some stunning custom textures and a static which i needed on this map to pull it off.
What i wanted to achieve was a PLA city map (a first for any BF2 mod team from what i can gather) with stunning views to make your jaws drop. And then to make it playable without lagging. I think i have achieved this now take alook and give me your thoughts
The level is pretty much complete, just running lightmaps in high, a proper game loading map and the 16,32,64 player modes. I have set a standard base at each end flag set up for testing. I'll post a linky later so you can have a wee walkaround, but there are a couple of new statics that will not show until the new PR release.

Well, they can be pushed back to Dragon valley. So Dragon valley could read : After securing the city, PLA forces are moving back to dragon valley .Guerra norte wrote:Yay! Now that the americans has taken Dragon valley we don't need to play it any more, right?
I think we need some maps on US ground or bases, chances are PLA would try to get rid of the US military bases in Korea and Japan. A set of maps could even be made where US forces are being pushed back and suffering attacks on Hawaii.
Also, MEC vs PLA, taking place on the Afghanistan-pakistan/china border would be nice.

I am going to try to get this finished for PRM .402 mainly as it uses a few new statics that are not available in the current version. Also i am getting a few guys to do a mass testing on it to make sure it runs ok. Luckily i run a BF2 clan and admin a BF2 League so i have plenty of willing peeps, it will be a mass multi-clan fun war
Yeah umm the sky well i have noticed alot of people now using this sky texture now but i did start this back in June and it does fit in with the the city. Also as with any heavy static map i am concearned with lag issues so i need a sky texture that i could also use a good fog colour.
I believe the new custom textures/statics will be available to everyone on the next release but they are very simple to do as i also added a few myself. I used the power company signs and replaced them with some PLA propaganda. Also the same goes for the big poster boards in the level.
The chinese archway was something i suggested for matt to do and he has done a fine job here, again this wil be available in the next release as far as i know
But i thank you all for your comments, it still requires some more tweeking before the official PR release but i am sure its going to be a good map

Griffon its mainly a run down city as we all know more modern chinese city's look more western based, there is very little PLA propaganda material used, more run down signs so to speak
As far as the custom textures they are coming out in the next PR release, so just build your city and then just add them on the release
There is also some real nice extra statics you can use also in the next release too
