Just brainstorming here, don't be too hard on me
Concept:
Japanese vs US (could use chinese for now, same as in the vietnam maps).
US defends pearl harbour, japanese attack from aircraft carriers (falklands style with long flying distances). Assets are bomberplanes and boats for japanese (with repair station + truck spawning after first flag cap). US gets AA and between 4 and 8 carriers with some cannons.
US Objective is reducing japanese tickets to zero while keeping as many carriers alive as possible (sinkable ships like in falklands? Doable with carrier too?). Japanese objective is sinking the US battleships somehow (or just capping flags, i'm just thinking out loud here). Maybe a normandy-style flag capping could be used, where a capped flag (= sunken ship) can't be capped back?
I realize this is not an actual "battle" since it was just a surprise attack by Japan, but it would be very cool in my humble opinion.

That sir, would be a mini mod within a minimod with in a mod. modception..... It's hard enough to get normandy going, let a lone all that on top of a NORMANDY minimod.

There wouldn't be much to do from the US side other than grabbing some AAs. Not doable for other reasons as well.

Pearl Harbour wasn't really a battle, it was a massacre.
To make a map worth playing you need to make something balanced and fun. Pearl Harbour was anything but a balanced fight so the foundation is totally off for trying to make it that. As Arc pointed out, the only real thing for the US to do is jump in AA guns and try and shoot down the enemy planes...
The workload behind this map is massive. An aircraft carrier is about the most complicated thing you can try to make for BF2 and then you've also got a shit tone of aircraft and ships to bomb etc... Workload is simply unrealistic for a small team and if you where going to put that kinda work into something, the Battle of Midway would be a much more exciting battle to do where both teams could have a much better experience with a lot more balanced and as such, fun foundation to work on with actually a smaller workload than what this project would be.
