We've got a little update for you today in the form of another machine gun: the PKP Pecheneg. The Pecheneg people after which this modified PKM is named occupied large parts of Central Asia during the Early Middle Ages, into the High Middle Ages, and were known (and feared) for their skilled archers. A fitting name for this long range support weapon then, sporting several upgrades over the PKM: it's barrel with an array of cooling ribs ensures sustained automatic fire, the carrying handle is designed to prevent mirage effects caused by hot air rising from the barrel, potentially disrupting a gunner's sight picture, and a new flash supressor with air ports allows hot air to exit the barrel jacket. As with the PKM, it fires the classic 7.62x54R cartridge.
Besides these improvements, the PKP also comes with a side mounted rail for installing various optics. The PKP in PR will be equipped with NPZ Optic's 1P77 4x telescopic sight, as visible in the render below. It'll be in use with the Russian Forces' machine gunner kit in 1.0.
