Hello guys,
Just got a laptop with two GPUs, a intel HD4000 and Nvidia GT635m and was wondering if someone could help me optimize the setting for PR.
These are the current out the box Nvidia settings, and I'm getting 60+ fps maxed with PR settings
Anisotropic filtering: Application-Controlled
Antialiasing - FXAA: OFF
Antialiasing - Gamma correction: On
Antialiasing - Mode: Application-Controlled
Antialiasing - Transparency: OFF
CUDA - GPUs: ALL
Maximum pre-rendered frames: Use 3D application settings
Multi-display/mixed-GPU Acceleration: Multiple Display performance
Power management mode: Adaptive
Texture Filtering - Anisotropic: OFF
Texture Filtering - Negative LOD bias: Allow
Texture Filtering - Quality : Quality
Texture Filtering - Trilinear opt: On
Threaded optimisation: Auto
Tripple buffering: Off
Vertical sync: On
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8
CPU Type Mobile DualCore Intel Core i5-3210M, 2600 MHz (26 x 100)
System Memory 6000 MB (DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM)
Video Adapter Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (2112 MB)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M (1048384 KB)
3D Accelerator Intel HD Graphics 4000

Re: Dual GPU Laptop help needed
But they are both GPUs, no? (hence putting 2 'GPU' rather then 2 card, SLI or Chrossfire in the title).
The GT 635M is not set up as a dedicated card, and would think that would massacre my battery life on this laptop if I did that?
At the moment its set up reverse of what you said, the HD4000 is doing everything and the Nvidia only kicks in on selected programs.
I don't want more the 60 fps, Im happy with a lot less, so was wondering how to set up for best quality rather then a high frame rate.....iv never been able to tell the difference over 30fps.....

That looks pretty close to optimized already,
Multi-display/mixed-GPU Acceleration: Multiple Display performance <-- This can be changed to Single Display Performance if you don't connect to an external monitor to play PR.
Power management mode: Adaptive <-- This can be changed to fulll power mode, but probably shouldn't if you ever play PR on battery.
If you want to get real geeky you can download NVidiaInspector and change many more options, but it's a painful trial and error process as I don't think you'll find an online reference for best BF2 or PR settings fot the GT635M.
The GT635M GPU is just a rebrand of the GeForce GT 550M, so you might find some info on optimizing the GT550M for playing PR, as the GT550M was a pretty popular notebook GPU.
BTW, what's the resolution on your notebook monitor?

Also, you should try to download this:
Ultimate Windows Tweaker, a TweakUI for Windows 7 & Vista
And turn off as many visual desktop composition options as you can, like Aero, and mouse shadows, zooming windows on maximize/minimize etc, it should increase your gaming FPS.
