I put in the pr1.0 password for the launcher if that is what you are referring to. I have my cd -key validated already, also.
I just can't get this thing to get past the damn Intro screen anymore, even after i uninstalled and reinstalled and followed your advice to the 'T'.

also, i disabled my laptop monitor and still no success

No clue what is happening, feel like i'm being dumped by someone i shared my life with and now it is over :(

welp guess it is time to venture outside more lol

nope :(

windowed mode doesn't work for me, always in fullscreen ...

1. I've got this error before the 5 steps

Image

Code: Select all

Project Reality Log File
PRLauncher.exe started at: 2013-08-13T11:34:59

Warning: No game process found.
Warning: Error in hud thread
Error: 1103: There was an error linking to the game process. Please try again.
2. after the 5 steps: the Game shot down at the vertical-rotating PR-logo next to the Intro.

fullscreen is always enabled (It doesn't save my choice)

When you disable your laptop monitor, does the Support info still show two resolutions or just one?

Does it work if you set the resolution to 1680x945 (or whatever your laptop monitor is) and/or play only on your laptop without the external monitor hooked up
What other programs are you running? Try closing as many programs as possible (like Teamspeak). Mumble overlay may not like running with some other programs especially those that have an overlay as well.

your report says:
Generic PnP Monitor on Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

Do you have a discrete GPU?

If you do not have a discrete GPU, you need to significantly lower your graphics settings or PR will use up all your shared video RAm and then stall/crash .

If you have a discrete GPU, you need to make sure that PRLauncher, PRBF2.exe and PRMumble.exe are all set to use the discrete GPU and not the iGPU HD 4000.
I'm not sure if I'm having the same problem that most people seem to be having. PR starts seemingly fine until the dogtag mouse pointer starts to rotate and then PR dumps me back onto the desktop.

I have an nVIDIA 560 Ti video card but don't know if I have an integrated GPU on the motherboard. How do I find out and how can you set the above programs to use the discrete GPU? Thanks for any assistance/suggestions.

Follow the steps from the OP.

Post your Support Info (PR Launcher -> Support-> info under the Support tab. I am guessing ou are probably using your 560 video card and not the integrated card because your Monitor is plugged into the video card and not the integrated video card itself. (the person that post was referring to was using a laptop with optimus which can use both the integrated and dedicated graphics.

I did follow the steps from the OP and think I might have done them correctly but I can't be positive. Thanks for pointing out how I couldn't figure out what GPU I'm using even though my monitor is plugged into the video card. (What a dummy I am. :( ) Also, I disabled my second monitor but that didn't help.

BulletMagnet,

DO you indeed have a X-Fi audio card?
Primary Playback: Speakers (Creative SB X-Fi)

That requires a separate solution to get it to run... let's perform a test first.

Try to make a simple check, maybe you have a problem like mine.
Our objective, get you to Launch PR without PRMumble

To do so:
rename the folder with PRMumble (...\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin\PRmumble to ...\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin\PRmumbleBackup ).

Then start PR as normal.

The drives for X-Fi cards are causing problems,
As I don't own one of these cards, I can not be of that much assistance,
I suggest you ask in this thread:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... her-4.html
or this thread:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... n-fix.html
there are plenty of X-Fi owners playing PR, and there are a few different workarounds, but it requires testing to see which workout will fix your particular issue.

LITOralis:

Thanks for the suggestion regarding X-Fi audio issues. I'll check them out. I did get things to start and now I can display in full native resolution 1920x1080 on my main monitor. Giving PRBF2 permission through my AVG firewall helped.

But now, the window PR runs in is high res but it's a little off center so I can't access some of the controls at the bottom. The audio seems OK, but I haven't tried any voice communications. [sigh] One step at a time.

[R-COM]LITOralis.nMd--

Thanks for the suggestions. If I have sounds problems, I'll know where to start. My major problem now is that while PR runs in 1920 x 1080, it's a little off center but I can move the window by right-clicking on the upper left hand corner of the window.

I've only visited empty servers to try out the controls. However, when I'm using a scoped assault rifle and right-click to look through the scope, the screen goes black. Right-clicking again, brings back the un-scoped view. But, if instead of using the "STD" configuration of the rifle I use the "ALT" config, it seems to work OK. Maybe it's supposed to be that way.

Also, I disabled Mumble as suggested but nothing seemed different. So far I haven't had the BSOD problem but I haven't really been playing with others online yet.

Thanks for the suggestions; any others?

OK, first let's try to delete your shader cache, that should fix the scoped weapon creates blackscreen problem

Open PRLauncher->Support tab-Utilities tab on top->Clear Shader Cache click the Blue Perform Task button.

second, to center your screen I believe you can try to do it within PRlauncher:

Open PRLauncher->Options->Video-.Custom Position
enter 0 in vertical, enter 0 in horizontal
click Apply
Now, go to here and follow directions to use Shift Window:
Borderless fullscreen windowed - PCGamingWiki PCGW - bugs, fixes, crashes, mods, guides and improvements for every PC game

AND/OR use this one:
http://forums.steamgames.com/forums/sho ... ?t=2675769

But might I ask why you do not run in fullscreen?

Thanks for your continued help. The custom video position of 0,0 did help although clearing the shader cache did not.

I'd like to run PR in fullscreen mode and I have the run property set to Maximized in the PR shortcut to the Launcher. So I don't know what the problem is. I think you understand these issues much more than I do so any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks again for your continued support.

Thanks for your suggestions. Now I am able to position the window in the proper location 0,0 and 1920 x 1080 but it is still in a window, not full screen.

Also, I have the problem of when looking through a scope, everything is black but returns to normal with changing to iron sites.

Any additional suggestions? Thanks.

We can troubleshoot this, or we can just fix it,

do this:
[R-COM]LITOralis.nMd wrote:write down your username and password for your BF2 account.

delete documents\projectreality

start PR, the profile importer will start, do NOT import your profile from BF2, instead choose to retrieve it from Gamespy.
