PR 1.0 , File verification error 1301

I fixed it guys, took me 2 reformats to get pr to work. I haven't installed antivirus yet but I found a fix

Well.... i just restart my pc... and it works well.... it seems to be somekinda conflict to program what "you" use before launching the game.... and just now it happend to me, while was writing this, i closed manually that punkbuster.exe from processes and closed my facebook messenger and ts3, game started without any proplems...

Tried everything thats suggested in the thread but it doesnt simply work. Had this error before but it was fine after a restart no nothing seems really to help. Changed Dns but didnt help either.

I did reinstall PR and tried to run it but same error appeared, updating was noch possible. I tried later and than update started, but stoped at 0.30 with error 75: Update Failed - Cant connect verification server. I tried to ping the different update mirrors and ancientdevs mirror was not pingable for me. A clanmember tried and had no connection too.

But now it works.... i waited and tried it again and suddenly its working. I got the last updates and was able to start PR


edit: And its again broken. I had a CTD while NEW server crashed and there are we again, error 1301

edit2: It works now, dont know why, but sometimes iam still not able to connect verification server, sometimes its gone 2mins later, sometimes it doesnt work the whole evening.

Just gonna call in to say I'm experiencing this, too. I downloaded both the torrent of PR and the ModDB version, same problem. I reinstalled BF2 (which works fine), added ports to my firewall, but nothing's working. I'm actually trying to grasp what the launcher is even trying to do at that point, personally I can't understand a reason for it verifying.

make sure your antivirus is not blocking PR, with the AVG suite being the most common culprit so far.
better to whitelist the prlauncher.exe and prbf2.exe in the antivirus program and your firewall program.

make sure Windows Firewall allows the PRLauncher process through,

Tried all that, still same error. I can't accept all the ports on my router, either, because I'm limited to about 16, and this game has an absurd amount of ports to open.

Every time i start Project Reality i get the error:

but my Internet works fine i already have opened the ports but it didnt work

I cant get it to work either, this was never a problem before the full release, what is the point of the verification and the launcher anyway? It has only caused problems so far.

The point is in verifying PR content and protection against unauthorized modification or hacking. Also provides easy way to deliver updates and various tools for troubleshooting.

I suggest you do a tracert towards some game server IP, and see if there are timeouts somewhere. If there are no problems there then its just routing problem on which you cant do anything except calling your provider and asking him to check for any routing problems, but for this you will need IP of verification server, which should be BloodyDeeds update server, but I dont know the IP.

It would help if the dev/support folk would at least post here what IP/hostnames are being accessed/resolved by the launcher during the verification process. I would reveal them myself though I haven't a packet sniffer configured on this machine at the mo. For instance, what domain is redirecting to akamaitechnologies hosts? Presumably PRLauncher is needing to resolve this domain first. Is UDP being used for this?

Some info on what error 1301 actually represents, too, would be useful.

FWIW, I see this 1301 error here too occasionally, though a 2nd attempt at launching has usually fixed the problem (this is still indicative of a problem though). This has occurred on both XP64 and Win7 systems, both clean installs, no firewall or AV software running locally (including the built-in Windows firewall), just a simple NAT gateway router that grants unrestricted outbound access, with very limited (unsolicited) inbound access configured (opened ports). There are no ports that need to be opened to grant remote services the ability to be able to connect in from the net unsolicited; only outbound access should be required, with inbound data received only from services solicited locally (as in replies, therefore naturally permitted, one would hope).

I have the same issue. I think there's a problem with the verification server not accepting certain requests, possibly from a block of IP addresses or possibly from certain service providers or geographic areas. It may be helpful if we shared our service providers and first 2 of our IP addresses and rough geographic area to help troubleshoot. Here I am:

Verizon FIOS
173.49.x.x
USA Mid-Atlantic

It would be extremely helpful for the Devs to share the IP of the verification server so we could run a traceroute and see where the problem is.

PRLauncher apparently resolves that hostname which points to a couple of IPV4/V6 addresses belonging to akamaitechnologies hosts that host the BF2PR file verification list for the particular version you're running.

If you click the link above your browser should throw up a "Save As" dialog or something asking you to download a "hashes_1.0.36.0.prhf" file. That file is just a PK zipped compressed file that can be decompressed to plain text using WinZip/WinRAR/7zip/etc, that contains a list of SHA1 hashes for the important PRBF2 game content.

I found that if PRLauncher cannot resolve the above hostname then you'll get the 1301 error returned.

Does the news ticker info show when you open PRLauncher?

The News Ticker does appear and it seems to be up-to-date (currently advertising Campaign 2 . I also get prompted that an update is available, but the error occurs when choosing to update the files. Thank you for your time & attention.
