Dual Screen Calibration

Post by Steeps »

Okay so I recently got a second monitor but one of the screens are way off and for the life of me I cannot figure out which is right.

Here are my screens:

Here is the image I am using:

Any help with figuring out what I need to adjust would be greatly appreciated!

You need to tell us
the make and model (and revision if you can find that info) of each monitor.
what GPU you are using?
if in SLI/Crossfire?
What OS?

places like AVS | Home Theater Discussions And Reviews have a subsection on screen calibration,
but really if you don't want to spend money or borrow the color calibration hardware from your work ,

use your naked eye and this website:
LCD monitor test images

then use this software:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Vide ... zard.shtml

(optionally) and this software so the calibration stays the same when you start a game/app:
dispcalGUI?Open Source Display Calibration and Characterization powered by Argyll CMS . This can do strange things, overwriting the game dev's color palettes, tones, saturation etc.

Note, I haven't had to do this in 3 years since I bought matching monitors at the same time, might be a better freeware solution around, idk.

edit:
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1497712/is-th ... hing-games
that is a good thread to read.

Left: Acer S232HL 23"
Right: Dell E2211H 21"
ASUS GTX 680
No SLI
Windows 7 sp1

Will try all of those.

So from what I have seen so far the sharpness on my left monitor is too high. But I can't seem to adjust it.

And I think contrast is playing a big part. My left monitor displays awesome whites but terrible blacks. The right monitor has deep blacks but the whites look yellow.

You'r looking through the Nvidia control panel I recon? There should be many options to adjust for the screens individually.

I'm not very familiar with Nvidia's control panel at the moment, but at least with AMD it overrides the windows settings so that your required to use the AMD control panel in order to change things.

If you don't find any Nvidia control panel perhaps you need to install it first from the drivers package.

Most of the same settings should be available manually on the screens though through a HUD menu.

Right Gracier,
NVidia Control Panel->Display->Adjust desktop color settings

you need to use reference images to balance the colors.
