That is interesting Sam,
may I ask if you are located in Iran?

This might be ICT enforced blocking at a backbone level?

Yes I am ! and it can be Government's internet blocking program ! after all over 90 percent of internet is blocked in here ! :? ??:
or it just can be the dysfunctional DNS server that I was using !

I get this problem too, BUT the problem might be caused by my setup.

My PR pc is connected via LAN cable to my Laptop, which is connected to the WiFi router (via WLAN)...

What setting do I have to change to fix this error? (BF3 for example works fine!!!)

UPDATE: FIXED!!!

Do NOT know EXACTLY what fixed it, but it seems it was one of the following steps:

1. Made sure that windows firewall on my Win 8 notebook and my Win 7 PR-PC is NOT blocking ANY "PR..." stuff and Punkbuster AT ALL

2. Made sure AVG (free antivirus) would EXclude any "PR..." stuff (the .exe)

3. DISABLED TCP/IP 6 on my PC and Notebook network adapters

4. Restarted PC and Laptop.

Funnily enough I had this issue and couldn't get anything to work. Then I accidentally stumbled on a fix. Instead of clicking on the PR icon on my desktop (which I now realise was out of date), I went through my start menu and ran it up from there. Worked first time. I know.....epic n00b fail!

That did the job for me aswell!

Thanks for the tip! :D Such a pracital solution. Hopefully it works out for others.

Strange error though :) . Changed nothing. PR worked smooth for months and all of the sudden this error appears. The *******.

Hey guys. Been playing for years but just had this issue too.

Noticed it when came back from weekend away. PR had not changed one bit as far i could see but got the 1301 verification error when trying to play.

Tried the above suggestion, tried uninstalling PR/BF2 compeltely etc etc all of it didnt work.

As a last ditch i turned my Firewall off. Ran it, this time it detected a small PR update (All PR exes are allowed through my firewall). It updated and ran fine!.

I then re-enabled my firewall and booted it up fine.

Sounds so simple, but hope this helps others.

- Go to Network and Sharing center
- Change Adapter settings
- Press your right mouse button on local area Connection ( your network )
- Go to properties
- Press on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4 )
- Go to properties
- change from '' Obtain DNS server address automatically''
- to '' Use the following DNS server addresses ''
- and enter there 8.8.4.4

This worked for me.

IPv6 Fix

Post by napstrike »

Dear friends;
If you are getting this error because of your IPv6 settings, DO NOT DISABLE IPV6. Some web sites, including this site can not be accessed if you disable it. There is another, much better fix on Microsoft's site:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2533454

Select "Prefer IPv4 over IPv6" from the link, and run the setup, then restart your PC when it asks you to do so.

How it works:
Windows 8 prefers IPv6 over the IPv4 by default. If you make it prefer IPv4 over the other, PR will launch without any problem, and you will still be able to view sites that use IPv6.

Well i'm temporarily visiting the US with a laptop, i ran into this problem after trying to install PR

I tried changing DNS, opening ports, running the process monitor, etc

What fixed it for me was disabling IPv6 on my network adapter.

Cheers!
