I've only played online a few times, i haven't been online in a while ether (I should go back online)
But everytime i've gone on there i've felt like a total noob, and the squads i was in never really helped. Most of the time i was too afraid to join a squad because i was worried i'd be kicked out of the squad.![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif)

Does that apply to bigD as well? They were generally pretty friendly when I frequented the server (admittedly several years ago, now)RazoR41 wrote:I've only played online a few times, i haven't been online in a while ether (I should go back online)

Unfortunately, BigD doesn't get much action these days, but there is an event coming up soon on the 28th, so jump on and if you feel intimidated about squads or anything, look for me and I'll gladly help you out. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Are there servers mode training? Or I can play gameplay training offline? Thanks.

Hiya GuidoCABJ,
Yes, you can train in two ways:
1, play offline against bots.
2, play online in coop mode against bots.
To play offline, login, then Select Cooperative mode->Create Local, set some options, pick a map, and give it a go.
Remember that bots can see through smoke, and see through bushes.
We have a single player and cooop subforum to find answers to common questions;

I understand. But I wonder if there is any game mode other than training. I read that there was one where there were many cars, recurrence was rapid and was not allowed friendly fire.

Re: To All the Veteran Players and Server Admins, Be Kind to New Players!
As a noob it's been a bit hard but when I've managed to manage my morale, it works out OK. I figured out the basic game mechanics in co-op mode and then gradually started playing more and more deployment mode games... now I'm at the point where I can't really say I'm new, because then people start explaining stuff that I already know. So at some point you've gotta stop saying "hey I'm new" ...one thing, on first joining a squad, just give it some time to see if the squad is actually talking to each-other or if they're in the middle of something, and wait for a good moment to say hi and ask for instructions, and then if you don't get them, switch squads or figure out your own ideas. It's more about when you ask a question than the question itself. People can tell how new you are by the questions you ask. Every once in awhile someone might do their whole "read the damn manual" spiel, and in those cases you just know that what you're asking is in the manual, and if you need to ask for the terminology to look up then that's OK... even if people are impatient with you, try to stay chilled. I've barked back a few times like "ok fair enough but at the same time, the manual is neither comprehensive nor fully clear" because sometimes I am asking because the manual left something out.
Honestly though I hesitate to make training squads. I don't know why. I make "eng fan try" squads. Any noobs than find me on the battlefield can ask me questions and stuff, I'm not pro but I know the basics. This game is worth the effort... even as a noob you can have a ton of fun... when you find the right teammates to play with. I've seen noobs take out experienced players, just because they're working together, or they're working with vets themselves.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: definitely join a squad. And have patience with the more experienced players, just like you need a bit of their patience. Everyone is playing to have fun. If you asking how to do what the squadlead is asking you to do is too much for them to deal with, they should assign the task to someone else, or tell you how to do it, or tell someone else to tell you how to do it. In a good squad, someone will step up to tell you, in local chat, how to do something, so that they don't clutter the squad chat. You'll be in plenty of squads who aren't helpful at all. My biggest challenge as a noob has been keeping up with my squadmates, not giving away their position, not putting myself in a spot where I'm gonna get killed and they're not going to be able to safely revive me, and not teamkilling.

Right? I don't get why they make that voice, its not like its something we all went through and is obviously a choice....R4MP4G3_RE4P3R wrote:Only thing I am unable to deal with is squeeking kids. Fuck that.

Re: To All the Veteran Players and Server Admins, Be Kind to New Players!
I just bought BF2 so I could play PR:BF2. I got interested after talking to another guy while playing America's Army 2.5 and decided to try it out. While waiting for the disk to arrive from Amazon, I watched some of dbzao's great videos and read up on the forums. After an hour of installing BF2, patches, and PR:BF2 (it's really not that hard if you do the homework), I started a local server and practiced. The next day, I joined a public server with the tag [NewPlayer] in front of my name in order to be polite (I won't be making that mistake again).
Anyone want to guess what happened? All squads locked, then kicked. It happened twice in a row on two different servers. I guess I'll take the tag off, try to figure it out as I go, and deal with the players who don't want to let new players in.
I've read the PR:BF2 manual, squad guide, and other forum posts discussing how to play the game. I am coming from America's Army 2.5 (not the crappy AA3) where teamwork is a must in order to enjoy the game. I want to learn.
Other than don't use assets and play as a rifleman until you get a feel for the game, what is the etiquette new players are supposed to use in order to get into the game and become a good player? Thanks.

Happens to me too from time to time, also sometimes the only ones left are non English speaking squads. I suggest you make a post at both servers forums to address the problem you had.drfreema wrote: Anyone want to guess what happened? All squads locked, then kicked. I'm sorry that had to be your first experience but it happens from time to time. I suggest you join a clan or join a tournament if you have the time as you can meet a lot of people there, and the more you know the better.

War of the factions should at some point have squadleader and squadmember sign-ups so keep an eye out for that too.

Common sense is the thing. Don't do it if you are not absolutely sure how to do itwhat is the etiquette new players are supposed to use in order to get into the game and become a good player? Thanks.

Be polite to others and they are nice to you! (also you might want to join some clans after playing PR for some time. It gives a whole new feeling in teamwork)

Just keep trying. It's horrible when folks lock and kick people from their squads, but remember that these people just want to play the game their own way. It's not personal.
Regarding etiquette, just be polite and only ask questions between engagements or when there isn't a lot of action going on. Remember, your squad leader may be having other conversations that you can't hear.
On that note, my advice to you is to lead your own squad. Let guys know that you are a new squad leader and they will likely help you. Then you don't have to worry about locked squads or getting kicked.
I'm happy to help anytime you see me on.
