I use a gaming laptop to play PR. So the only usb soundcard I could find at the time that supported EAX 5, was the Creative x-fi go pro.Now its started playing up a bit I thought I'd invest in A new one. Is there anything better on the usb soundcard market that supports EAX 5 or are the newer dolby surround versions the way forward : : :

If you're looking for hardware accelerated sound the X-Fi Go might be your best choice, although it doesn't offer much and is far from a "proper" X-Fi card.

You should get an Astro mixamp, it has a lot of features; I use it for my gaminglaptop+xboxone combo.

Like Prevtzer said, The XFi is a good choice as I use that for my computer, tbh I hear no difference.

I wouldn't spend all that money on the MixAmp if I wasn't using it for the consoles - that's what it was made for.

It's compatible with PCs.

But as a LAPTOP user, keep your XFi.

If you ever get a desktop, that's where you can pitch money in to a dedicated audio card, usually the one's that you're looking for. Audio isn't that exclusive.

Thanks for the replies guys. So I've been doing a bit more research today and nothing seems to come with eax5 anymore ,not even any old stock anywhere. So have narrowed it down to either the creative omni or the xonar u7. I like the volume control on these units and as I've recently been bought some qpad 1339 I'm sure they'll benefit from a little more amplification. Anyone use either of these???

I went with the Asus xonar u7 echelon edition and its absolutely blown the xfi pro out the water.I can,t believe I put up with the creative **** for so long.So anyone who uses a laptop get one, you really won't regret it.

Hi Daniel. I did consider that product, but what swung me round to the u7 was the independent Mic volume control.
With the xfi pro the Mic volume always seemed to fluctuate up and down to different levels which was really annoying.
With the u7 I first set the volume level to 80% which was the same as the xfi pro. This way to loud and in the mumble configurater resulted in the volume level being firmly in the red.The level I ended up with mumble working efficiently was only 0.5% the amplifier in the u7 is that good.
