"Your connection to the server have been lost".

Post by WhiteSharkie »

Hello everybody.
I have this fucking probem lately that I though will go away after I'll change my system from 32bit to 64, it didn't lol.
Thing is this punkbuster shit, everytime I join a server, the map loads and when I'm about to click "deploy" my game freezes and I get kick out from the server with a message that pops up "Connection to the server have been lost", to make sure this is not my ping or anything I checked out normal battlefield and same thing happened but the error was saying it's punkbuster. Now I been watching my PC and i read alot about this problem and it's that "pnkbstrb" or "pnkbstrk.sys" that is causing this, I tried many ideas how to fix this but I can't. The only thing I done succesfully was copy pnkbstrb from systemWOW64 to system32, i played for 7-8 minutes (on any server) and I got kicked -.-.
HELP ME OUT PLEASE.
Right now I got battlefield 2 and project reality instaled
I unistalled punk buster and I'm waiting for your help, please !! :(

copy pnkbstrb from systemWOW64 to system32
That is a bad thing to do in 64 bit Windows 7.

Can you post your system specs please?

You might need to allow Punkbuster through your firewall/antivirus/router , it's quite possible it's being blocked by one of those.

When is the last time you ran PBsetup to update Punkbuster (first thing you should do when you have a disconnect out of the blue)

Check your router's logs for "**UDP Flood to Host**" or similar warnings ( from:router / connection problem / voip / multiple lan players) Check if your router has "IP Flood Detection" enabled. If so turn it off.

Make sure these ports are open on your router
(my router 'D-link Gamers lounge' auto opens these ports for BF2)

TCP
80,Battle recorder port
4711,Remote console
29900,Client+Server
29901,Client Not in use yet
29920,Server Standard Port
28910, Client
44301= PnkBstrA
45301= PnkBstrB

UDP
1500 - 4999,General use
16567,Game port
27900,Stats port
29900,Gamespy port
29910,gamespy port
27901,Stats port
44301 = PnkBstrA,
45301 = PnkBstrB,

55123,VOIP ports
55124,VOIP ports
55215,VOIP ports

Not sure what ports (TCP/UDP)
port for PnkBstrA = 44301
port for PnkBstrB = 45301
should be, so opened for both

I'll try to think of something else, but anyone reading this thread feel free to jump in with new ideas.
Good luck
From which screen is that showing up in?
From the server browser screen when you click "Update"?[/QUOTE]

The punkbuster kicks have slowed down, i haven't been kicked for 2 days now here is all my actions i done.

1. I unistaled punkbuster service
2. I deleted 'pbsvc' (the .exe file for test/instal) everywhere i could find it on my PC
3. I went to registry (regedit) and searched whole PC for 'pnkbstr' and DELETED everything that i found with that name lol
4. I went to system32/systemwow64 and deleted 'pnkbstrb' and 'pnkbstra'
5. I went to appdata and found folder 'punkbuster' and inside it 'pb' - I deleted all of them, also deleted the one at battlefield 2 folder
6. I unistalled NVIDIA graphic settings, then I downloaded them again and only instaled 'graphic driver', didn't instal some shit like nvidia experience/nvidia 3d action or whatever they offer.
7. I downloaded pbsetup and pbsvc (from the official web)
8. I copied pbsetup and pbsvc and pasted them inside battlefield 2 folder.
9. First i opened PBsetup as admin and selected battlefield 2, updated it.
10. Second I opened pbsvc as admin and instaled it, but didn't run test afterwards.
11. I went to control panel - system and security - admin tools - SERVICES
12. there was pnkbstrA and pnkbstrB (because i instaled pbsvc) and I clicked on A then on B, and went to changed their settings, i changed from them opening/working "automaticly" to "manualy", then i selected a setting (there is 3 of em) to open that program after it fails again.
13. I turned on pnkbstrA pnkbstrB at 'services'
14. I went to firewall settings and deleted all pnkbstrA/B anything, and added new pnkbstrA/B (you have to find where you instaled it)

ps: i also lowred "UAC settings" to max bottom, dont know what it do but i read on forum it help so i did lol

15. now this i will update once i will find link, i downloaded some "pb" folder (some guy on forum posted to download) and replace it with all 'pb' folders i found after I instaled new pbsvc.

sry for my eng if u got any questions what i done u can ask
i dont know if this work 100%, im not getting kicks for now lol

Aight the punkbuster kicks have stopped for me, i might get a kick once a week but its only when i connect server, i don't get them when i play.

so i'm doing basicly this.
I removed all 'pnkbstrA' 'pnkbstrB' from firewall and after a fresh instal of punkbuster I went back to firewall settings and added pnkbstrA and B (from the place where they were instaled). Right now everytime i wanna play Project reality i Manualy turn on pnkbstrA and B (from admin tools>services) and it works for me

You can download Bitsum ProcessLasso Free and while pnkbstrA and pnkbstrB are running, bring up the ProcessLAsso window, right click on those processes, and there is an option called "Keep running (restart if terminates)" select that for both pnkbstrA and pnkbstrB and you won't have to manually start each process before playing PR.

Note that pnkbstrB might need to still be manually started on each reboot and login, that's how the .exe if designed to work.

Only thing I can think of off hand, and that happened to me, was another version of Punk Buster for another game (Quake3) kept interfering with Battlefield2's Punk Buster. Do you have another Punk Buster controlled game installed? My solution; I deleted Q3.

Nah man, by the way some info !
I instaled steam cause Red Orchestra 2 was for free and this game was using also punkbuster, I downloaded it and it updated punkbuster for Red Orchestra, i noticed in my 'services' tab i lost punkbusterB, there was only punkbusterA and I didn't know what to do, then I downloaded pbsetup (not pbsvc) and updated battlefiedl 2 again, took a while though to my suprise then i was reading somewhere that it also might kick me out cause I don't have microphone plugged in, i found some old microphone and plugged it in.
I was playing yesterday few full matches 2-3 hours and I didn't have kick, wierd.
It's working somehow now.

Now everytime I wanna join project reality I just turn on manualy "pnkbstrA" in my service tab and go play.
