Re: Can this laptop run PR?
My opinion-based recommended Specs for PR:
Any gaming card above the price of $250 USD
A CPU that has a clock above 3.5GHz with at least four cores (intel comes reccomended from me).
A properly running hard drive.
- rest of stuff is pretty basic -
I understand you aren't putting a build together but that's my clarification of running PR.

Re: Can this laptop run PR?
You don't need anything near a $250 GPU.
A used Radeon 6850, on Ebay for under US$70, will max out the graphics for PR.
The CPU should be at least a dual core, and single thread performance should be as high as possible.
Right now if building new on the cheap:
Pentium G3258 overclocked to 4.5Ghz to 4.8Ghz. There are CPU/motherboard combos available for US$105 right now. Add in a Hyper EVO 212 CPU cooler for another $30.
Will max out PR, but will bottleneck newest games.
There are so many options for a CPU right now, just ask.

If you can get an i7 you won't even need a GPU, I can play PR on all max and full HD resolution with GPU disabled and playing on Integrated Graphics and I can play at around 30-40 FPS. How much money are you willing to spend?

I had to play with my integrated graphics for a while on my i7 4770, it ran PR surprisingly smooth.
But then again, you won't be able to play much of the newer games, but it's still a good way to spend a minimum of money while saving for a GPU and other parts.

Well, you won't be able to play any of the modern games with a cheap GPU as well. I have a GT745M and can't even play World of Tanks on medium settings... (on full HD res that is, on HD res I can play WoT on medium smoothly).
You just have to see how much money you are willing to spend and decide what you want to spend it on based on what you are going to be using your laptop for.
If you do not wish to play modern games then get a laptop with an i7 CPU and a medium grade GPU, you won't regret it.
If you want to play modern games with a cheap GPU then you should make sure that you have at least a GT750 or 755 if you can't afford a GTX GPU (those are Nvidia, don't know the AMD counterparts).

Go for the i5 series instead of the i7. There'll be barely any difference for gaming and it's way cheaper. I've made mistakes in the past by getting a high end gaming PC. It's not worth the money since it'll get outdated so quickly.
My advice is keep your budget round 800$. You'll still be able to play new games at High settings for 2 to 3 years.

Re: Can this laptop run PR?
800$ is enough to buy a good laptop, well at least in my country. I bought a Lenovo z710 for about 750$, you can play games on high but all you need to do is lower the resolution to HD.
It would be even easier to find a 15 inch laptop for that amount.
Though you are going to notice a great difference between the i5 and i7 if you get the chance to choose one.
I've compared both with a friend of mine who's got an i5 and the difference is well noticeable.
Also, another thing you can do to save some cash and get good performance is to get an SSHD instead of an SSD, it keeps the cache memory stuff (which is what is important) from the SSD and uses a normal HDD. It's not as fast as SSD ofc but if you by an SSD you will have to buy an external HDD for storage as storing files on SSD is not recommended.

Yea, sorry I wasn't talking about laptops, I was thinking about the i5 and i7 quad cores.PatrickLA_CA wrote: Though you are going to notice a great difference between the i5 and i7 if you get the chance to choose one.

Re: Can this laptop run PR?
I assume you were talking about PC i7 and i5 because there are laptop versions with quad cores as well.
But yeah on normal i5 compared to i7 the difference is probably not that huge due to the higher frequency as opposed to the laptop versions.

..or just simply get a 400/500 €/$ AMD build, it'll run a lot of games on higher settings..

You might only need to lower textures to medium with that config.

That processor is so new I can not tell if it can run PR or not. It has 1.7Ghz on 2 cores/4threads and no turbo boost.
How many instructions per millisecond can it process though? IDK.
