Hi!
My 7 years old computer has died and I need to buy a new one.
I want to reuse (if I can) its case and its power supply to build a custom one. It's an Antec New Solution NSK6580-EC - mid tower - ATX.
I want to use these components:
1. Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H motherboard.
2. Intel? Core? i7-4790 processor.
3. One KINGSTON HYPERX FURY BLUE 8GB DDR3/1600 CL10.
4. One SANDISK SSD EXTREME PRO 240GB 2,5" SATA 6 GB/S.
5. My old Seagate ST3500630AS 500GB hard drive.
6. My old Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS SB0350 7.1 sound card.
7. My old Pioneer DVR-110 rewriter and probably another Pioneer DVD unit (both IDE units).
By the way, I want to reuse my Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS because I need to use its Digital Output to connect my Creative DTT3500 speakers.
Another option is buy an Asus Maximus VII Ranger motherboard, but it doesn't have PCI slots for my Sound Blaster. I think that Creative DTT3500 works with an Optical Output (it have worked on my Playstation 2).
And, when I have more money, I want to buy one or maybe two good graphic cards and add another KINGSTON HYPERX FURY BLUE 8GB DDR3/1600 CL10.
I have some questions about this configuration:
1. Can I reuse my old case and power supply? Or do you recommend me buy another one?
2. What kind of CPU Cooler Fan do I need? Is easy to install it?
You can suggest me improvements on this configuration (another motherboard, a better memory...).
I'm a software developer and I want to use this new computer for games and software development.
My main goal is to have a computer that I don't need to change it in the next seven years. This is why I have chosen an Intel Core i7-4790 processor.
I don't want to waste more than 1,000€.
When I get more money, I will buy one or probably two graphics cards and one 1TB hard drive.
Thanks.

Re: What do you think about this custom build?
The mother of all question is what is your budget and where are you buying ( prices ) if it is to take in concern and the other one is what do you need PC for exactly, except casual gaming. Anything professional?
For the moment, I would strongly advise to change the PSU. If it is 7yr old as your old PC then its a must. Also you must plan PSU power with care, based on components you will be running. Case can remain the same if the new motherboard can fit, with all other components.
The rest when you answer the primary question.

Replaced a few things and you have a complete PC for under 1000€, since you will be using your old case, DVD rewriter, and a sound card. Board supports SLI so if you want another card you can get it, but you wont get that much in SLI. Not worth it. I have tried to maintain compatibility and choose bleeding edge tech as much as I could. SSD is brand new 3d NAND chip so no SLC/TLC/MLC and is highly praised. I also dont think you should buy i7, because i5 can be just enough for gaming for long time. If you replace CPU for i7 you will have to opt out graphic card, and you will save some money. Suit yourself.

I'm not sure if I can use my old Pioneer DVD Writer because it's an IDE unit.
Can I use it on a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard?

Re: What do you think about this custom build?
No. This board does not have an IDE controller, but you haven't mentioned that.
You can either invest some more for rewriter or trim down a few things. Opt out CPU cooler and use stock one ( comes with CPU ) but you wont be able to OC much. If you dont plan to, you will be fine with stock cooler. And if more is missing and you want sata3 BD rom/rewrited, you can get a little cheaper version of GTX970.

Re: What do you think about this custom build?
You can buy a SATA to IDE converter dongle, but it costs as much as a bulk packaged SATA DVD R/W drive.
About 25 Euros either way.
The converter will even further slow down read times btw.
