I seem to be always getting this error when patching from 1.0.2442 to 1.41 to 1.5, using no illegal cracks whatsoever. (All the links are from the PR installation guide)
Could anyone help me fix this? I've redownloaded twice now and I'm afraid I'm just going to waste bandwidth redownloading again.
I've tried Error checking my drives, and they all returned that everything was fine. I've read on some forums that this might be a installshield error? Now how do I fix that?
I've tried copying the file to the desktop, hoping that it would delete some hidden attributes causing this error, still it gives me this error.
Do you have Special Forces too? Where did you install it from? Its rare that installation of BF2 these days comes with 1.0 version, its usually at least 1.3
No I don't have special forces, or any expansions for that matter. Actually I am using an Alienware 13 Laptop, and it doesn't come with a CD/DVD Drive (which my original game that I bought long ago used), so I downloaded this torrent file from Bluedrake42's forums, which contained the BF2 installer's iso, and I just used my official CD key when installing it.
And yes, it does come with a crack but I chose not to install it, as I have read in the patchlogs file in the install directory that it would scan for the official and uncracked file, so yeah.
Well, what would you have me do? I am open to suggestions so please, enlighten me.
EDIT: Also, I can't access the BFSP forums for some reason, says I'm not permitted to use the board.
EDIT2: I believe the patch 1.41 takes any version of BF2 to patch 1.41, as I have read on gamefront's patch descriptions. And also on the PR installation guide.
EDIT3: I"ll try if I could redeem my cd key through origin. Maybe that'll work.
EDIT4: EA support said they couldn't activate my cdkey, as it was an older version of the game. Well, I'm out of ideas here. *sigh* Really wanted to play this game

Oh, so that might have been the cause then? The Mod.desc file says it's version 1.0. In-game it says 1.0.2442.
Anyways, I'm downloading a already 1.5 client, then I'll just modify the registry files and install PR to there. Will edit this post if I am able to play.
