How 2 solve - Error 8: Unable to find root BF2 directory (PR 1.3.1)

I think this is a BUG in the 1.3.1 version. Because I use "ClassicShell" on Windows 8.1 somehow I got two "Play PR" links. One is working, the other one is not. The reason why the "other" one is not working is because if you right click it it points to the PRLauncher but it does NOT say where to run it.



The empty line in "Ausf?hren in" has to say:

"Drive Letter:\yourPath To Game\Project Reality\mods\pr\bin"



This problem occured on installing the 1.3.1 update, before that everything was running fine. Thank god it's an easy fix.

This isn't actually a bug, but was done intentionally for reasons.

PRLauncher.exe should always be run from the bin folder, the start in directory or the working directory should not be anything else. This update has just enforced this to help solve some other issues we were having.

So those with custom shortcuts or scripts to launch PR should take note.

OP Updated. I wonder still why this happened. I installed PR standalone normally, then the update came out, and I got two links in my ClassicShell startmenu. :-/ Or maybe they were there since 1.3 and I just "happened" to hit Enter on the correct link?

Thanks megagoth, I had the same issue on same OS and this fixed it!
But i never had two shortcuts, just one on desktop and one in start menu.
I was just getting used to reinstalling PR and restoring profiles folder every time i wanted to play

It doesn't work for me for V1.5.Need another solution ASAP.
