FPS Issues
Hi all,
My friend recently introduced me to Project Reality because of my interest in games like Arma but my inability to run games like Arma. My computer ran BF2 just fine (was getting 50-60 FPS), but as soon as I tried to immerse myself into PR with the co-op mode I was getting as low as 6 FPS and only as high as 18 FPS.
My graphics drive is the AMD Radeon(TM) R5 Graphics drive, which I've heard is pretty good for gaming. However, this was the drive that was built-in with the computer. My friend informed me that this may be causing my issues because it's something known as an integrated graphics card. I'm not too well-versed with computer jargon, so I just took his word.
I tried adjusting all display settings to low, but still to no avail. Is there anything I can do to improve my performance, or will I have to take another option?
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm using the standalone addition.

The problem I was having was forcing Project Reality into running on my dedicated graphics rather than the Intel. My Catalyst Control Center didn't have the option for switchable graphics, so I went to the Internet to see how to fix this. One thing led to another, and I made a system restore so that I could attempt to uninstall my graphics cards entirely and re-install them. Neither of those worked, so I simply re-installed from the HP Support center, but as a result I only have my Radeon R5 GPU and not the integrated. By this, I mean that the Device Manager only lists the Radeon R5 GPU, rather than the R5 AND the Intel that I had prior. I was under the impression that the driver update I installed from HP would include both, but again only the Radeon shows up on the Device Manager.
It's a stupid thing, really. I'm not great with computers.

EDIT:
Spoiler for Catalyst Control Center:

Re: FPS Issues
this is a laptop? have you set your power settings to high performance? open run or search for powercfg.cpl and select high performance
is there a reason why you aren't using your native resolution?

You have a AMD A8-6410 processor with AMD Radeon R5 integrated graphics meaning it's on the same chip. Today's integrated graphics are able to run older games like BF2 on low without too much trouble. However, PR is very CPU intensive with it's higher player count and large maps. I'm afraid your laptop is performing as it should. Sorry.

Re: FPS Issues
EDIT: Didn't see the link at the bottom.
EDIT2: That link says my GPU is integrated, but my computer itself said that I had over 1,000 MB of memory left on my GPU. In addition, I had two entire GPU units (the Radeon R5 and an Intel), and the computer was running off of the intel. Is it possible that my computer simply has two integrated chips, or is that Intel GPU that I had the dedicated graphics card I thought the R5 was?
EDIT3: Here is the info on my VRAM:
EDIT4: I've come to terms with the fact that I probably won't run Project Reality efficiently with the current GPU units I have. Does anyone have any recommended Nvidia GPUs that could run this game smoothly? What are the general prices of these?

Re: FPS Issues
There is no sign of a non CPU graphics card Nvidia or other anywhere, it is possible that your settings are not allowing it to be used.
However it seem that your 15" HP does not have another GPU, basically very very hard/impossible to upgrade your machine.
However Alienware have made an external enclosure for GPU.
But a decent gaming computer can be cheap( thanks steeps iirc):

Re: FPS Issues
Your drivers are fine killen if they're working for you in PR and other games.
PR is very CPU dependent because the old Refractor 2 game engine is single threaded and only uses one CPU core. Once the server gets near capacity and you look in the direction of most people, your FPS will drop. It happens to nearly everyone. There is nothing really to be done.
I suggest you check out Squad as it is the spiritual successor to PR built on the Unreal Engine 4. It will better utilize today's gaming hardware and hopefully offer the same PR gameplay on a modern game engine.

Re: FPS Issues
Not many people can right now since the Squad devs haven't begin to optimize the game for all systems. It plays fairls smooth though right now on Epic settings (the highest) at 1080p. I maintained 30+ FPS but it went all the way up to 90 FPS. We shall see what kind of performance it has when its finished.killen wrote:i am already looking for supporting squad, but i don't know if i am able to play it smoothly ( i mean 60 frame per seconds in full hd )

I am too excited, either way for Traction War's and Squad. And War of Rights too.

You can get immediate access - at a price, plus squad is far from finished and lacking lots of stuff. Your call man.
