I hear all!

Post by MechaDraco »

so I've been playing the game for a wile now, and I've tried to work around this, but its just gotten to the point that I simply cant ignore it anymore, but With my mumble, for some reason, I literally hear all local voice chat on both teams no matter where I am at all times. all I can usually hear is gargled yelling in my ear since so many people are talking, sometimes I can maybe make something out, but the majority of the time what I make out is something from someone across the map on the other team.

I have done everything I can think of to stop this, I've manually joined mumble servers, I've reset settings, I've reinstalled the game and mumble, I've changed various settings on the mumble though I don't entirely know what should or should not be checked, and its done literally nothing to help, if anyone can come up with something, please, I would like to play the game, and not have to turn mumble off.

Sounds like mumble can.t get your position of PR. Both running as admin?

I believe so, I do know the PR is running as admin, but I couldn't say 100% if mumble is, I would think it would since they are linked, but I will be honest I havn't tried to specifically start mumble in admin.

so further tried running as admin, closed and relaunched mumble as admin, set mumble to have admin permissions at all times, and still nothing unfortunately, I thought I had got it working once when doing this in a coop mode, but I am still not 100% sure if it did or not. but when I got into a Internet server it clearly wasnt working, I was hearing people on the carrier when I was on the shore.

Well, I have done everything I can think of, there is litterally nothing else to be done unless someone actually decides they want to help, and considering the community, I dont see it happening so I guess I just wont be able to play the game, its a good game to I was really enjoying myself, and I could of seen it just get so much better if mumble had just worked but without help it aint gonna happen I'll keep an eye on this thread incase someone FINNALLY decides to help but I dont see it happening.

After further investigation I have discovered there is an issue with the audio detection program that is supposed to detect distances and emulate normal human speech in the game as you get closer, further, left right, behind, ahead, etc etc. I don't know if it has something to do with the installation, the downloaded file, or something else all together, but I have at least narrowed it down to that particular part of mumble. I figure that since it cant actually detect local directions or general directions and distances, it just automatically makes me hear everyone, as if they were right on top of me. And I do want to apologiese about being rash earlier, long day at work, annoyance at this glitch, and needless to say tired of the human race as a whole at times XD.

as requested here are my specs:

Nope unfortunately it still is picking up every voice local voice chat, was hoping that it would work, but I had already tried something similar to it with compatibility changing. So still on the look out for a fix on this.

So just to check in again on this, I went and also installed and played the game on my laptop Specs for it below, It also has the same problem of hearing all local voice chat no matter where I am, though I haven't done any fixes with it yet, I thought I would let you guys know that the problem seems to be going across multiple platforms, which leads me to believe it may have to do with the installation, or more so possibly the downloaded file, couldn't say 100% for that unfortunately, I am currently updating to windows 10 on my Desktop so I will see if that in anyway changes things up, if so then I guess I will get back to you all with that information

Well Windows 10 didn't improve my situation any, not that I really expected it to, but I kind of had hoped. I started to wonder if there was any way my Headset would have something to do with the error, but I dont see how it could since even when I change the vocals to my normal speakers, it still does the same thing, dont know, I guess just another theory to look at if anyone is interested in further investigating this issue.

So I do think that I may have found out what has been going on, apparently for some reason it cant for some reason has an issue with my headset, I went off my theory that maybe the issue was coming from the head set I was using, I dont see why or how this is causing the issue, but when I reset the communication device and put it to my speakers, it started working again, I still dont think we can consider this closed since my headset is still picking up every local chat, but at least now I can play the game.

I have had the same issue as well, for anyone experiencing this here is my workaround:

Change the mumble output device to the standard stereo output device you use for your game (my speakers).

the problem for me:

Using a mono wireless Bluetooth headset for communications seams to confuse mumbles direction/distance calculations. ALL local chat from the team comes through at 100% volume.

i haven't found a bug report on mumbles bug tracker yet but there may be one. if not i would like someone to verify the cause of the issue were possible before i post a bug.
