I have set all graphical settings to low but now the game quits by itself after a couple seconds on the menu screen

You're not going to be able to run it smoothly on that laptop. Since it's a Refractor 2, an old game engine from 2002, it's not familiar with the idea of a multi-core threading. Game relies mostly on one single core and due to lack of single core performance you're experiencing FPS drops and etc.grimefisher wrote:hello all. i have a laptop with the amd 5750m apu meaning a quad core processor and a intergrated gpu with 1.5 gb vram. the computer also has 8 gb of ram as well as a 64 bit version of Windows 10. in any case, i first started playing yesterday and kept to the default settings which were a mix of medium and low. this surprised me given my specs were well above the minimum. the real issue is in game, fps drops are terrible and the game just doesnt look good. anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this? it just plays like im running it on a pc from 2003...

Well every PC is a different story, just like persons. Depends how well you operate it and in what shape it is. Money invested does not guarantee that you will have top performance and that is very true for older games especially.Hokunin wrote:Weird, I run on 2.50ghz too i7 cpu with 8gb ram, gtx970, full PC though and it runs smooth on all high.
Erhm. I think 2.5 Ghz it's a "Processor Base Frequency", but in a turbo mode it will boost up to 3.6 GHz.Hokunin wrote:Weird, I run on 2.50ghz too i7 cpu with 8gb ram, gtx970, full PC though and it runs smooth on all high.
But your "smooth" may not be someone else's idea of "smooth. It's relative of course.Hokunin wrote:Weird, I run on 2.50ghz too i7 cpu with 8gb ram, gtx970, full PC though and it runs smooth on all high.
